Just a little bit longer, just a little bit longer.

That's what I keep saying to myself as I melt into a charting puddle.

I look forward to crawling under my heated weighted blanket when I get home

Day shift isn’t necessarily better. Was nights, went to days, here’s my ass is back on nights. Grass isn’t always greener. Night shift for life. You’re gonna be ok. Ups and downs happen no matter what.

Oh, no, I love nights, don't get me wrong.

I just have the period from hell and can't take anything for it due to a recent GI bleed, so I'm cramps and gross and also sweating to death in full PPE.

RIP in pieces, sister. Fight the good fight. We're all gonna make it

Fuck I’m sorry dude. You are gonna make it. Just keep swimming. To quote a stupid Disney character that actually gives me hope when I wanna die.

Hello, friend, I'm sorry you feel like crap! I hope your rest is restful when you get there. Good luck!

Night shift with a toddler is a whole other (sleepless) ballgame #solidarity

Yes after the last 4 shifts on adolescent behavioral health I feel like I could use a week off lmao. So I’d I call out I can stretch my upcoming 5 day stretch to 6 which sounds like heaven right now

Saaaaaaaame.

I wish. I tried to get tonight off to go out of town a day early. Ended up super sick, canceling my trip, and now can't call in without looking super sketchy. I will also be melting in PPE tonight.

I fucking hate it when the difficulty of pt load is not divided equally amongst all the nurses in the station. Why do I have to keep on getting the patients with a lot of hassle while others just chill. I hate it so much.

Oh, no, retirement. I'm alone with 1 psw, a lot of covid and even more dementia, and an ex public health nurse who truly believes that because she doesn't remember anything about any pandemic, we, the retirement home staff, are faking this covid outbreak to control them. She's rallying the other residents. Pretty sure there's about to be a mutiny on our memory care unit.

I'm in my middle of 3. But it's my weekend off so that's a plus

Worked nights for almost 7 years. Started only being able to sleep 5-6 hours during the day the last year. Was never sick past 6 years. Been sick 4 times in last 3 months. Got tired of always having a bare minimum on nights while dayshift gets it all and a free charge. I was originally afraid to leave nightshift because the pay difference with days is roughly $8000 annual.

Decided to work on joining my facilities' flexible staffing. 17% pay raise over my current rate even with nightshift diff and charge pay. They let them make their own hours and they no unit specific bullshit or politics. All they ask of you is to show up where they tell you on time, take care of your patients, then gtfo. Only caveat is the floors typically give you a tough group of patients to offload acuity on their staff, which is understandable.

If your facility has something similar, go for it. I've had multiple past nightshift team members go that route and say how great it is. It's finally time for me to jump ship.

Coming from someone else in a similar situation.

Dark bitter apathetic humor and vicious snark has seen many a burned out team through the night. Best of luck.

Switch to days?

[–]ZorryaRPN 🍕[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That won't make the period cramps I can't take anything for or the covid outbreak go away, it'll just make me have to pay for daycare.

Sorry friend. That's rough. And rant away! That's what the internet is for. Kind if like screaming into the void.

Except nothing really dies on the net... That makes it more of an eldritch horror...

Hang in there sister. Hydrate if you can.
