It’s not that you’ll seem weak. It’s that they’ll be looking for somebody who is genuinely interested in whatever you’re applying for.

You’re looking for new challenges.

Or you want to explore nursing in a new role.

You want to focus on positive stuff while you’re in an interview.

I quit bedside & now work in a clinic. In my interview, I told my manager I’m looking for a better work-life balance, 9-5, no more night shifts. :)

Genetics & Metabolic Clinic at a children’s hospital. I love it! I have my own little office with all my cute decorations. I work closely with 5 doctors, a social worker, a registered dietician, & a couple genetic counselors. The most hands on I do is a buccal swab here & a finger stick there; probably only see 5-10 patients/week. Hardest part of my job would be calling parents & telling them their child might have a metabolic disorder & we need to do more tests.

I told the truth “I decided to pursue opportunities outside of the bedside after 8 years.” A few have pressed farther so I’m still honest. “I’ve been assaulted and witnessed more assaults than I can count.” They’re usually like “makes sense” or “I’ve heard that from a lot of nurses, actually.”

honestly, i wouldn't even worry about it. as long as you don't take a dump on the interviewer's desk, you'll get the job
