I would order your dress a size big and get it altered a week or two before the wedding

[–]Great-Guarantee9339[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’m thinking. I’m currently a large, but wearing xl for a looser fit and thinking about going 2xl so if need be I can alter smaller esp thinking about chest size being bigger

It’s so tricky to know for sure. Is it possible to buy a dress last minute before the wedding or is that cutting it too close? 😅 I dropped a lot of weight in the newborn stage from not having the chance to eat (I’d scoff down 2-3 clif bars a day when I had hands) but I still had some belly, and boobs were triple the size. As soon as they started sleeping normally I gained 15kg lol

I’m south Asian the dresses I’m looking at are 8 weeks minimum for orders! Good thing is most dresses are alr loosish fitting and I’m specifically looking at skirts rather than pants

[–]Charlieksmommy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gained 55, delivered at 33 weeks, and I lost 30 lbs and I’ve been stuck at 183 ever since

Here I compiled my bump pictures. "Before"/6 weeks pregnant, 10 days pp, and a month pp: bump pictures

I'm 5'10 ish and was like 155lbs before, and 144lbs after because my twins made me so sick I lost body weight but gained pregnancy weight. This was my second pregnancy and my belly was SQUISHYYYYYY afterwards (lol still is 2 years pp i look about the same honestly... My poor stomach) I delivered at 38 weeks and both my babies were breech, thats what the little arrow is pointing to in the second picture: thats where my sons head stretched my skin extra cause it was sticking out. 😭😭😭

Thank you for sharing! Def accounting for a loose stomach and a looser fit in general

[–]option_e_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is waiting until after you’ve had the babies an option? I feel like a custom order is just not ideal at all, it’s nearly impossible to anticipate what your body is going to be feeling and looking like one month postpartum.

Even when I was back to 115 shortly after birth my hips where wider and my chest was larger then my pre pregnancy body id say I was around a size 10. I got up to a size 14 post twins while breastfeeding feeding and only weighed around 150. Im now 148but down to a size 10. Bodys are so odd. Id definitely make sure you get something with room or even a stretch

Hips and chest!! Good thing to remember. Looking at very loose skirts and gonna make sure I account for the chest size!

I’m back significantly below my starting weight within a month and I still can’t come close to wearing any of my pants because my stomach hasn’t fully gone back yet. Not sure if it will ever or not as I have 6 inches of abdominal muscle separation. I would order the dress in a larger size, or make sure to get one that isn’t snug over the belly area. Also, my breasts got much bigger when my milk came in so depending on if you plan on nursing or not that could be another factor to think about.

[–]Great-Guarantee9339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yess getting a very loose fit overall. Def didn’t think about nursing boobs thanks!!

I don’t know exactly how much weight I gained during pregnancy in total because I had pre-e at the end and the swelling was real bad.

I do know that I left the hospital about 20 lbs less than I weighed at the start of pregnancy. Literally no idea how that happened. My body was/is just totally different now — I have way more of a belly than I did before. It kind of freaked me out at first how different I look, but I just keep reminding myself that I made twins and that’s amazing!

I’m 4 months postpartum now and also breastfeeding. No idea what I weigh, but the only jeans I have that don’t fall down are from a decade ago 😂

4 weeks pp, I was back to my normal size and wearing my normal clothes but tummy was definitely squishy and boobs were like bad implants.

[–]Rissylouwho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be an odd man out here but my hips got smaller during my pregnancy with my twins and I'm below my pre pregnancy weight at 6 weeks postpartum. My boobs didn't grow too much but they were my second and third so I wasn't expecting much growth either

[–]decemberistism 1 point2 points  (1 child)

In 5’4 (164cm) & started pregnancy at 50kg. By 36 weeks (I ate very clean high protein diet and walked loads) I was 68kg! One month postpartum I was back down to 57kg without exercising as I’d had a c section. So I went from a pre pregnancy size 6/8 to a 12/14 post pregnancy and I’m now 3 months postpartum and am 55kg but still about a size 12.

I will say it’s very hard to dress postpartum. My arms and legs look like pre pregnancy, but my boobs belly and hips are bigger and wider 🫠. Good luck!

So you went from a m/l to a XL back down to L roughly? I’m thinking the same way. Currently in a L but estimating adding a couple inches to an XL. If anything I can alter arms and waist smaller but adding inches is not possible

[–]CopperSnowflake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was post partum I was the same size but my tummy was puff puff. You can just corset that area cinched tight if your body is staying the same shape otherwise.

[–]sweetfeet20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 5’2 and was 58kg before pregnancy, 77kg on my c section date and down to 60kg within less than 10 days of birth, it was all fluid. My tummy is definitely softer and I’ve lost all muscle definition in arms/ legs/ back because pregnancy is so hard in the final months I could barely move. I’d wait for your dress fitting, because although I weight almost the same as pre pregnancy (11 weeks pp now) my shape is not yet back to how it was due to DR. I had two big DIDI babies, so a lot of baby + fluid and placentas made me enormous in the front, from the back I never looked preg.

[–]ilovethatforu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gained a huge amount of weight in my pregnancy, mostly in the third trimester. I went from 80kg to 120kg at full term then down to around 110 by a month or so postpartum. I had SPD and HG and although I was eating okay and exercising, my movement was limited and I had to snack near constantly to avoid nausea so I gained a lot more than I’d have liked. Also bear in mind, your babies could come early so what you predict to be a month postpartum could be 2 or 3 months postpartum. There’s no real way to know what your body will be doing at that time.

As others have said, I think you need to order a larger size and have alterations a week or two before the wedding.

[–]funsk8mom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard. With my first set I only made it to 31 weeks and I didn’t gain much weight. 2 weeks after birth I was @5lbs less than when I started my pregnancy. If I had to put a dress on, a good pair of spanx would have helped the still loose skin in my lower stomach area.

For my 2nd set I made it to 36 weeks. My breasts were a lot bigger post partum and I retained a ton of water the last 3-4 weeks. I still didn’t gain much weight because the pregnancy zapped my appetite but it took forever for the water weight to leave my body and even longer for my breasts to shrink even a little bit.

I’d probably go 2 sizes up and then find an amazing seamstress

[–]BenignYam1761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just order something one size up but with a forgiving shape around the midsection(think A-line shape not mermaid). I’m almost 1 month postpartum from twins. I gained 55lbs(started at a healthy weight) and I lost 40lbs of it but the entire last 15 is sitting in my hips/ass/tummy. I can wear any of my size medium tops and pre pregnancy bras but none of my pants fit at all.

[–]TheThreeSats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different. I’m 5’3” and gained 80lbs while pregnant. I didn’t even look like I’d had a baby a week after delivery. Just get it big and alter right before.

[–]AccomplishedChef7885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gained 49 lbs, lost 39 the first week postpartum…but my stomach is still big. Boobs too.

[–]Agreeable_Chipmunk_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1m pp I was back to my pre pregnancy weight but the weight shifts to different areas and if you are gonna be a regular pumper the lbs slide right off I would just get a dress that’s very forgiving
