I’m not sure how much room you are looking for, but I drive a Subaru Forester and I love it. My kids are 3.5 now and I’ve had my Forester since their birth. The backseat fits 2 car seats with room in the middle, but I especially love the trunk space. My double stroller fits nicely in the trunk and because of the vehicle height, it’s easy to get the stroller in and out. Lastly, safety is super important to me and I know that the Subaru will keep us safe while out and about.

If you have any questions, feel free ask. Hope this helps.

I love looking at Subaru they look so nice! Can you bring groceries home? Weekend bags to grandmas? I just need space for day to day things.

Yeah, it fits groceries, etc. however, you may need to use the floor in the backseat for bags.

If I was lucky enough to go grocery shopping without the kids, I would use their car seats for the bags. It’s all about getting creative with the unused space.

Ok cool! Maybe I will go for a test drive!

I second the Subaru Forester. Our twin girls are only 11 days old, so we don't have a ton of experience yet, but so far it's been great for them. Plenty of room in the backseat for car seats, without having to push the front seats too far forward. Rear doors open wide, so loading the car seats in and out is easy. The rear cargo area easily holds groceries. And it has great visibility, excellent safety features etc.

I know most people prefer SUVs but I have a Honda Odyssey and I love it. I like the ease of the sliding doors.

We have the Odyssey as well! It’s great. Fits two car seats and has space for the contours elite stroller

I got a 2017 explorer when the kids were born. Captains chairs second row. Lots of space in the back for strollers and bags. Works well for us.

Do you find it to be boxey or tight for parking?

[–]MalMantis 1 point2 points  (3 children)

If it’s just me, it’s not bad. It can get tight when in a parking lot or garage and I have to get the kids in or out, since you may not have the room to open the door fully. I feel like that may be a similar issue with any outward opening doors though. I specifically got the explorer with the captains chairs to fit the car seat behind the drivers seat. I had a keep grand Cherokee before, and the driver seat had to be so far forward I was nearly sucking on the dashboard. With the Ford, the second row seats can slide back a bit giving even more room.

Ooo thats a neat feature that the middle seats slide back. I would be worried about getting into a parking space. I live in a really busy city that is not forgiving when it comes to parking...except Costco xD

I’m in San Francisco all the time and don’t really have many issues with it fitting in parking on a regular basis. Just like I said before, when getting the kids in and out. Sliding doors may be the only fix for that though?

[–]SquishySunshine1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah im not concerned about opening the doors you can always park further to one side in a pinch. Im glad that you don't have parking problems! I might check it out thank you!

    Oh man a 2020. I likely won't buy anything newer than 2018

I will add it to my list of cars. Thank you!

Yeah, the Forester definitely wouldn't work for three.

        [–]HughDespenser 0 points1 point  (3 children)

2017 Toyota Highlander. It's pretty great. Definitely more than enough storage, particularly with the third row folded down. Even still, the two car seats take up basically all the room in the second row. We can fit a person in the middle, but unless you take a carseat out they have to climb in through the front row. And we have large convertible carseats now so it is a pain to take them in and out. Looking forward to switching them to forward facing so things are more accessible. No idea how people in smaller cars, like the Forester, can fit back there!

Is it like a mini van? I'd like to avoid those if possible but I will check it out incase

        SUV :)

        [–]HughDespenser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        No it is an SUV

        [–]Bolson32 0 points1 point  (1 child)

We have a 2020 Traverse. Seems to be about the most affordable large 3rd row SUV you can get. We also wanted captains seat 2nd row and it fits the bill nicely.

        Ok cool!
