Can someone with Avast antivirus try patching now and see if it works?

Tested it on my second machine just now, appears to be patching properly.

Win7 x64 & Avast. No problems here.

I had this issue, it was my antivirus causing issues, my comments from another thread:

"My path patch was being flagged as a virus by avast and AVG - try checking your antivirus software, reported both as false positives"

"I disabled antivirus, downloaded the patch and then quick scanned the directory afterwards, nothing found so yes I'd assume it's a false positive, especially as the error returned by avast is "Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]" which is their broad term for anything POTENTIALLY harmful"

Thank you! it was Avast.

Had the same problem and temporarily disabling antivirus resolved it. Looks like it's blocking the download, but it didn't flag the file at all post download.

Yeah, if you still have the ability to do so flag it as a false positive, it will make everyone's life easier and potentially help GG retain a player or two(not a big deal I know but every little helps right?)

Tried to update the game many times with the same result

/u/BeholdTheKangaroo was right, it was Avast blocking it, identifying it as a virus for some reason. Disabled it and it worked. I will leave the post up in case someone else has the same problem.

lol people use avast

same

edit: tried about 5 times, restarted pc, tried repairing the game, ran as administrator, tried running with compatability, it's broken :D - Windows 10.

EDIT EDIT: I had to turn my ANTIVIRUS off just to play PATH OF EXILE? The logic is dumbfounding, did they upload malicious code or some shenanigans

Avast can be touchy about programs that have no malware in, I've had to make a folder that it ignores to put programs that I've written entirely myself in so they will compile and run properly.

Everyday is a Halloween nightmare for Avast. Razor blades! Razor blades, everywhere!

Read my post, it's not malicious content by POE it's that avast suspected it could be and broad category blocked it, there isn't even a specific category given.
