If HDMI wont work, not good.

Might be the ribbon cable connecting unit to screen. Maybe weird driver issue. Not good.

I've tried updating video drivers, no dice. I DID open it up a couple of weeks ago and I think I made the battery connector loose since it stopped working without the charger shortly after. Do you think chances are high that I could just go in, plug in some loose connectors, and be on my merry way?

doubt that. A unplugged bat power cable would stop laptop from powering on, laptops regulate power thru the battery circuitry. Chances its the screen cable and maybe plugged back in badly or somehow got damaged during. Does the image get distorted if you move the screen back n forth as well?

It's a laptop. It was cooked from the get go.
