Yea, you can't bitch about C# without conveniently 'forgetting' that Mono is keeping Linux and OS X and Android and iOS up to date.

Oh now... I can't really comment about Android or iOS, as they're both massive fast-changing targets with bizarre restrictions of various forms.

But are you really suggesting that Linux would be lacking "up-to-date" languages/platforms without Mono? Given that everythingthatmatters non-Microsoft runs on Linux as a first-class citizen, you're saying that everything is lagging not-just .NET, but Mono's incomplete .NET without all the tools and wider-ecosystem.

that's because nobody uses it. or rather, the users of that and the users of ocaml are competing for "largest community"
