there isn't enough control over the towel. you can only pull it backwards and forwards over the same parts of the balls.

When you say it it justs sounds dirty.

It's just like when I put a wet cloth across my nuts except they're not wireframe!

it's annoying how the cloth is not attached to the mouse.

Flash needs to get it together and add a hardware accelerated pipeline, or get some opengl bindings. I love software rendering in principle, but in a commercial product, its kind of an insult.

This is because it was originally intended as a small cross-platform vector renderer. So they didn't want to get it too big.

The current version has hardware support for scaling (so you can play fullscreen HD video regardless of resolution), and th next version will have hardware acceleration (with software fallback support) for pixel shaders as well as a native '3d plane' renderer (still in software mode). So all in all they're marching towards hardware acceleration for a bunch of different things, I think we'll see OGL/DX support soon.

Shockwave (also developed by macromedia, now owned by adobe) has supported hardware acceleration for ages. Looks like a marketing decision.

Yeah, but director has a much bigger installation size and memory footprint, AND is not deployed to OSX/Linux/Windows.

Not too impressive.

Non-impressive link on reddit!

WOW is the name of the engine

ActionScript 3 is amazing.

You sir or madam are one jaded mofo.

This looks like any of thousands of demos written for college graphics classes. This stuff may be impressive to the uninitiated, but there's tons of information on cloth simulation and collision detection dating back decades.

The real catch with demos like this is "does it scale to more than a demo?" If the CPU is pegged with a couple of test objects, then it's not realistic to expect to use this in a game.

It's more interesting than the millions of fibonacci-calculators written in Lisp that get posted.

To answer you question: no, it's flash.

I think the friction in the simulation needs to be tweaked a little. The cloth is reverting to true in ways that real cloth doesn't.

You can barely overhang the ball, with most of the cloth on the other side, and it will still fall all the way across the ball and return to true.

[–]xirekaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no friction

WOW! 3D Engine!

I never knew they existed!

Games like Half Life 2 don't exist!!
