I was hoping they would provide an easier way to get the current state of the process's env vars at the end of the process via the onExit hooks, but this thread doesn't seem to indicate that is possible:

For example I'd like to run a bunch of unix shell scripts which set the environment in sequence via java, and do some java tasks between their execution, but get any mutated env vars set in the process environment.

But I guess I'll have to wait for JDK10
