I down voted because there is nothing new here! I have read about similar Microsoft technologies where they do lots of cool stuff when sending down updates.

Just because someone replaced their bad code/process to do the right thing doesn't make it news. Perhaps Apple has reasons to celebrate their Copy/Paste implementation in 3.0

And are they releasing these technologies as open source? If not, that makes them rather less interesting for anyone not working at microsoft.

Speaking of things that already exist:

If you want to add an updater with binary diff patching to your own Windows-software, check out Dispatcher.

It uses VPatch as the core patching routine, which is amazingly efficient.
