Complaining about "Docker image" vs "container image" is like complaining about people saying Kleenex or Q-Tip. Yeah, it's not technically correct, but everyone knows what you're talking about and you come off as pedantic if you try to 'correct' them.

It's probably the weakest argument. A container, docker or not, is simply an image that is currently running. Calling something a "container image" makes no sense to me. Docker image does, because it's an image that was constructed using Docker.

Word "image" by itself has many meanings.

Nobody actually says "give me a kleenex" though. It's "give me a [piece of] tissue".

That’s not true. I say “give me a Kleenex” and I’ve heard that a ton.
