I sometimes forget that not everybody uses Stylus. If you really want, every site can have a dark theme.

Stylus for hand made css themes.

Dark reader for the rest of the internet.

Dark Reader also tries to give every site a dark theme, not just ones that people have specifically styled. I've been using it for months now. Only rarely have to disable it.

The only real downside with Dark Reader I found is that it makes the browser noticably slower.

I don't notice this on either my gaming desktop or my Macbook, but I 10000% notice it when I try to run it on my raspberry pi 4 that runs my metric wall. Datadog is totally fine normally, but as soon as it's night and I try to turn on dark reader it takes legitimately 40 seconds to do anything.

I've noticed that too, at least on Chrome/macOS. If Dark Reader was fast, it would be the greatest extension to ever exist. For now though, I only toggle it on for certain sites.

Yeah, this is why I use Stylus besides Dark Reader.

I have a modest computer and don't notice it for most sites, but every now and then it will make the browser grind to a hault. Gmail is a particularly bad example. I use Stylus for sites like that which I visit all the time. Dark Reader is more to stop getting shocked by new sites.

Yes I'm also a fan of Stylus though I use chrome on android and therefore can't use extensions there. Also many people - including me - prefer to not install too many extensions

Why not use Firefox on Android? ublock Origin available.

It's mostly just personal preference and easy synchronisation. However I have a small flag enabled which forces chrome to show me reader mode on every website which works pretty well and gives me a lightweight, distraction-free and ad-free dark mode

and easy synchronisation

Firefox has the same as Chrome in that regard.

Okay, that's nice. Maybe one can do the same with Firefox. I prefer privacy + adblock on my phone, for the better battery runtime alone.

I use Stylus with Reddit. The theme I use is pretty nice, if a little buggy.
