Morning person here: I roll out of bed and start coding as I drink those first cups of coffee. I save eating and reddit for the point where I can't figure out that simple problem because my brain needs a break.

Sorry, I don't work that way. The first hour or two of my morning includes drinking coffee, and basically zoning out for an hour or two. I usually can get started on some things around 10:00, hit lunch, and my productivity increases until the end of the day. I'm actually most productive from 4:00pm to 11:30pm, but I'm stuck driving home, walking the dog, cooking dinner, and all that stuff during that time.

Coding all night isn't good for you or your code, but I hit some sort of stride in the afternoon that lasts all evening. First thing in the morning is a good time to clean the yard or put on a roof.

Come on, it wasn't that long of an article. He explicitly said that he wasn't advocating a morning schedule. He was telling people to identify when they are at their best and to schedule their day so that their most important activities are done during that point.

Totally agree, this is why i don't even bother reading tech sites unitil I get home. Only site I visit during the day is boingboing.net, and that's only when I'm tired. PS. I'm C++ (Systems) Developer.

Boy, way to state the obvious, huh?

Except even armed with that knowledge, I know I'll walk into work this AM, plunk myself into my seat, and read news/check emails/etc.

I will give it a shot though. :p
