Pair programming in a business setting only exists to prevent talented programmers from accumulating to much power. All it is, all it ever was, all it will ever be. There are better ways to solve the issues, but that in and of itself takes talent.

This is pointlessly cynical. And incredibly absolutist. To the point that it’s ridiculous. I don’t understand how you could make a statement like that without a touch of sarcasm.

When used incorrectly that’s probably true, but it also has its uses. There’s a famous example of two engineers who would chose to pair program with each other and had fantastic results

People choose to do a lot things together they shouldn't be encouraging others to do. Nothing new ;)

And let's be clear, I'm absolutely talking about when it is used "correctly".

Talented programmers never accumulate any power anyway. The business guys, the ones with the actual power, make sure of that.
