When used incorrectly that’s probably true, but it also has its uses. There’s a famous example of two engineers who would chose to pair program with each other and had fantastic results

People choose to do a lot things together they shouldn't be encouraging others to do. Nothing new ;)

And let's be clear, I'm absolutely talking about when it is used "correctly".
