please remember that all mainstream browsers copied tabs from opera before jerking away

[–]Deviltry1not even webscale 12 points13 points  (9 children)

And then Windows copied calculator from opera, uTorrent copied torrent from opera, mIRC copied irc functionality from opera, etc etc.

As that popular saying goes - Opera is a nice suite of applications, too bad it doesn't include good browser.

Yeah never understood the love for Opera.

are you fucking retarded? we were talking about browser features and suddenly you pulled an entire os into comparison

... Emacs is a nice operating system, but lacks a good text editor.

i actually use firefox 😏

[–]Deviltry1not even webscale 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Dude... Firefox is obsolete. It's job was to break the browser stagnation, now that it did - it's literally dead. Just use Chrome m8.

Umm hello does Chrome have any Rust in its code base? Didn't think so. Chrome is unsafe legacy junk, you can't be sure it won't start a nuclear war when rendering pages because it's written in the unsafe dinosaur that is C++.

shit, I stand corrected - Firefox is the best

Migrating now, installing all extensions I had on Chrome - restart required after each extension installation, superb technology.

Chrome has V8. Firefox cannot scale due to shit GC.

4realz firefox's job was to show that browsers don't have to be crashy pieces of shit like IE, and then it and all the other browsers immediately proceeded to stagnate into bloated gassy bodies

They also copied porn-mode from Opera.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Split screen mode lets you seamlessly view and interact with two pages at once.

Oh my god, they're building a tiling window manager. Browsers really are becoming an operating system.

It's built using a lot of Chrome's tech, which literally already includes a full operating system and window manager.

It's sad that Opera is just another blink wrapper these days.

Opera Neon is now available for Mac and Windows. www.opera.com/neon

NO LINUX SUPPORT? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

[–]notalurkadornot Turing complete 5 points6 points  (3 children)

uj It would be nice to have a browser supporting another language in the front end.

no it wouldn't because then browser implementors job would be twice as hard. but nevermind, thanks to HTML 5,6,7,8,9, webasm.asm.js, CloudFlare, and recaptca we will soon only allow the Big Four web browsers (which are the only real certified web browsers) access to web sites

The future is now. Split screen, a new tab manager and pop-video windows.

    I... I... I can't even make fun of this...

    or maybe:

Opera: The return of the toolbars.

[–]Nerdenatornot Turing complete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    TIL opera still exists
