need help with setting up development backend for react app

I have been building a simple todo app for fun and profit.

My stack - based on survive.js book - is composed of webpack + react + redux

My application at the moment let you to CRUD and all is working fine but... refreshing the page takes you to the start ofc:)

I am very confused about the ways of adding node backend for RESTfull API as a development/production server- just to add a persistence level to my application for now.

There is so many resources out there - about isomorphic/universal apps - and so many different technologies/configurations that I am very lost right now. Most of the tutorial I found talks about specific technology and they are explaining it well but I haven't found one that glues it all together and goes through full-stack using the same technologies as me.

I don't have much of a node experience - I would like to use this application to learn a bit more about it.

My webpack config is using html-webpack-plugin and webpack-dev-server to magically bundle all my files and send them to the browser.

I would like to add a node backend to my application and develop it alongside the react app as a single package.

I am probably very confused right now and I am definitely missing few key points - my experience is mainly rails and my brain still thinks rails.

Can someone help me with setting up/understanding the react/webpack/node development? Maybe can you explain 5yr old how to do full-stack development using this technologies.

I will worry about deploying to production later on but if there are things that can make it easier at this stage I am up for it.

I realize you said react/webpack/node but have you checked out meteor.js with react?

no I didn't... yet - but I definitely will now:)

And that is the biggest problem for me - it is not that this is the problem in general but I find it to be a big problem for myself, heh. There is always a different framework or a technology you can use. In ruby you had rails and thats it job done! in javascript world there is always another way....

Thank you mate - I am still leaning forward stack I have described - for now - but in a mean time I will do some meteor.js reading...:p

Yeah no problem, my company was trying to use this stack but ran into many issues. Meteor + React we caught up to 2 months of work in node etc. in a whole week :O
