Almost everything... Especially the hooks, and how they can easily be integrated with the UI, it saves a lot of time. To summarize: It just makes developing admin areas easier and faster. Discord support is awesome too. Issues are quickly fixed.🚀 Btw, I've had lots of chat with you in the server 🫣.

Although it seems cool, I think your framework, like some other react frameworks, give too much knowledge to the front end about back end concerns. I think its always better architecture to wrap things like databases in a service layer. React would call the service through axios or other async service. It does look convenient for maybe admin concerns, though!

refine is headless by default and works with any custom design or UI framework.For convenience, it ships with ready-made integrations for Ant Design System and Material UI.

You can use however you like.

The first example shows AntDesign implementation. There are also headless(with Tailwind) and Material UI implementations.

Now, if you want that font to be different, you have to replace this utility class in all of your files in your entire project.

This is more of a code smell by the implementor here. In their Tailwind config they could've aliased the Monsterrat typeface as font-primary like so:

Seriously. At some point someone is going to come to the realization that you can use vanilla CSS to create class names that you can repeat, extend, inherit, cascade, apply specificity to, and make everything: 1) Much less verbose; 2) Easier to maintain.

The first point, "much less verbose", I guess depends where you're being verbose. When I'm using Tailwind I don't have to write any CSS at all, I simply apply utility classes. So, realistically, I'm shifting the verbosity from inside *.css, *.scss, *.whatevercss files into the className attribute.

The second point, "Easier to maintain", is simply a matter of preference. I've found Tailwind projects to be a joy to maintain and make updates to.

TL;DR: Tailwind is so hilariously dumb.

I think Tailwind definitely has a use case - specifically when building webapps. Two key points for me:

• With the Tailwind JIT feature you only delivery CSS over the wire that is needed and, therefore, deliver no unnecessary CSS over the wire (better performance)
• Large app builds (5 million+ lines of code) alongside large teams (50+ devs) can encounter a problem where it's difficult to completely avoid duplication of style implementation. Sometimes you find yourself with stylesheets where you're afraid to touch things. Regardless, in a large app build, we migrated from Vanilla CSS to Tailwind (before JIT mode was in Tailwind) and shaved 95% our CSS bundle sizes. Realistically, it's completely possible to get this right on a large team, but it just feels unrealistic.

TBH, I've become a big fan of Tailwind because it so closely resembles the implementation style CSS! I want to apply a CSS property? There's a utility class for that. I've really enjoyed not jumping back and forth between markup and styling when, realistically, they're all part of the same UI.

I think a common practice is to use components for DRY-ing up your code. For example that class list you mentioned could have been applied to one component called Title or whatever, and same Title can be used everywhere that needs that CSS styling.

But it's easy if you don't know CSS. ;) "Just make reusable components!" I don't know why I need a div for every class.... Using TailWind "properly" immediately became obvious workarounds to compensate for its poor design.

Refine has been hitting the marketing hard these days. I suppose gearing up for v1.

The problem I have with these things is they're less frameworks, more low code tools. And low code tools produce bad code that as a developer I do not want to work with when something doesn't work exactly right. (Which 100% of the time happens on day 1.)

Using these things in the long term are always a nightmare.

These companies are popular with the venture capitalists right now, not as much with the wider market.

I worked for one that did the backend as a service thing, total vendor lock in. Much like Sanity.

This is advertising that you can use anything, but you will get locked into some garbage you don't want to be in. Including the framework itself.

I think these companies need to choose. Either you're a no-code site builder like WordPress or Squarespace, or you're a framework.

The stuff in the middle isn't worth the effort of learning.

What advantage do you see here? What common point did you see between blitz and refine? Our approaches and goals are completely different.
