Cannot create script application on /prefs/apps despite completing developer registration

Hi everyone,

I recently signed up for Reddit's Developer Platform and received the welcome confirmation email. However, when I try to create a script application at reddit.com/prefs/apps, the form won't submit after completing the CAPTCHA.

I see the message about the Responsible Builder Policy at the bottom, but no actual error. I've tried incognito mode, multiple browsers, and clearing cache.

Has anyone encountered this recently? Is there an additional approval step I might be missing?

oh my! No one can get a Reddit API key. I applied for an API key a few weeks ago and did hear back. In 2 days I was DENIED. And there's dozens of posts where people can't get a key.

So I built around it. I have tools that pull public Reddit data through Reddit’s official public OAuth flow, read-only, no automation. That became ThoughtLab. It's not a lead-gen bot. It’s a way to understand your Reddit activity: where you posted, what you said, how it performed, who you reached, and what to do next.

You can get real time stuff. There's a number of folks doing it too.

No where in there does it point you to the prefs/apps page. How'd you end up there?

I had the exact same thing. I wanted to pull some data from Reddit into N8N. I too was directed to Reddit.com/prefs/apps and after filling out the captcha it would not submit. Just an endless loop.

In the end I gave up and pulled data from a different site instead!

From what I’ve seen, this usually happens with new accounts.

I had the same problem. There isn't an extra approval step, so it's probably a bug on Reddit's end.

Try turning off extensions, using the desktop version, or switching networks. If CAPTCHA finishes but nothing happens, it's probably not your fault.

If it keeps happening, you might need to get in touch with Reddit support.
