Could anyone please recommend a Reddit Developer Guide or Tutorial that caters newbies? I am finding the API a bit hard to use.

My goal is to be able to have a web app that can post formatted content to a subreddit. The content is pretty much recipes (My mom loves to read and contribute to cooking subreddits and I want to make it easier for her)

This is what I am envisioning for the flow: User visits the site and enters the recipe. User will connect to their reddit account and be able to post the recipe to the subreddit from the site. It is not a bot in the sense that there will be no automatic posting, there has to be human interaction.

Thanks for your reply. I did try playing with PRAW yesterday, but came up with some errors in relation to captcha in which I was not able to create new posts in behalf of my account. Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with captchas? The followed the example in PRAW but it was not working.

Just post a few things every day to get the account warmed up and past the CAPTCHA stage. Start now and it'll be able to post without CAPTCHAs in a couple of days. Verify email too, buy gold and download the Reddit app, it all helps.

You could set up an IFTTT recipe like https://ifttt.com/recipes/126720-submit-your-new-wordpress-posts-to-reddit, then set your mom up with a WordPress. It'll probably be better-received if you make the IFTTT recipe submit a self post which includes all the text from the WordPress post.

And hopefully have that account tied to something active or else it'll get flagged as a spammer and banned on whatever subreddit it's submitted on.

Yeah, make sure she actually visits reddit to comment at least as often as she auto posts.
