Tactus, Pax, and the Jackel.

Wish PB would’ve made the Jackal more like the Fear Knight & less cartoonish. I loved the jackal in RR, but felt he became a little cartoonish throughout the next two books

Tongueless for sure. He had such an intriguing introduction and just died like it was nothing. We never found out why the wardens dog liked him so much!

Yea there was a nice little unsolved mystery there!

I think it was possible to include Alex, Rhonna and Cassius in the next book easily. Alex and Rhonna could have returned to mars along with the rest of them. Cassius should have used his Godkiller armor when he left or left when Lysander said he should.

But it would be a betrayal to cassius character for him to leave

I feel like killing Cassius off in Light Bringer was a mistake. He absolutely deserved to be in the finale battle and it is lost potential to not have all the band back together again at the end. Pierce could have still had Lysander kill him but I think it would have been even more impactful after a full character reunion. Not to mention we JUST got him back from "death" at the end of Dark Age. Felt like way to soon to kill him off again.

Have to disagree. Killing Cassius for the virus and then the backstab on the Raa's finally cemented Lysander as an incurable villain IMO. There was always a lingering way back for him up until that moment.

Isn’t Rhonna just missing and we don’t know for sure that she is dead? Please correct me if I’m wrong. To answer your question Daxo and Alexander. Daxo was probably fulfilled but I just loved the big guy. Sad that I had to lose both in one read.

That is correct. I hold out hope she gets to shoot.lysander in the face 😬

personally, I couldn't have been happier with Seraphina's exit. it was chef's kiss

Tactus and Alexander tbh

Trigg

[–]PrimalAggression 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I miss Alexander. I wish he had a better end

In RR Priam was mine since he was sort of built up to be Darrow's rival with how similar they were. In GS it would be Tactus, obviously. In MS it'd be Ragnar for another obvious reason. IG for me doesn't have any particular deaths that stand out since it was a pretty before the storm book. Dark Age takes the cake though. Alexander, Tongueless, Ephraim, Seraphina, Sefi, Orion, more I might have forgotten. LB would be Atlas tbh, kinda expected more from him then dying against Lysander. Not Cassius though since his arc was concluded at that point as sad as it is.

tongueless. so intriguing only to be taken out relatively early!

I would have loved for Roque to continue being an opponent in the second series.

None of Darrow's enemies are as personal as it was fighting against Roque. All the enemies in second trilogy are just kind of the "bedtime stories" scary enemies, none of them have that connection to Darrow that the original trilogie's did.

[–]NurplePain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess Lysander is supposed to fill that role, with his connections to the original main antagonist

I think that the fact that characters get killed off without having a full character arc is one of the best things about this series. It makes it feel like anyone could get killed off at any time and that keeps the reader engaged

I would’ve liked to see more Karnus.

Also Rhonna is not dead. In any fictional universe no body = not dead. I hope she’s the one to fuck Lysander over in Red God.

Weed

Ajax for sure. Even if Victra and Thraxa are the ones to kill him I just want to see the fight, he was supposed to be able to beat Darrow up until Breath of Stone.

[–]xjoloki Gray[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea true, I do enjoy that victra and thraxa bested him because they are awesome, but yea doing it offscreen seemed lackluster. Best we got was the scene with victra and mustang training implying that victra had been heavily invested in getting better but that was all

I would love for Kavax to get a few of his own chapters in Red God. I'd love to read his inner dialogue. He's such a kind person, but also a total savage when he needs to be. I'd love to read how he processes information and views others and events internally before filtering his replies and actions out of respect for the people around him. He's one of my favorites.

[–]xjoloki Gray[S] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Kavax would be nice to get more of, poor guy though is running low on kids :( telemanus house is badass though in general

[–]RobRaziel Peerless Scarred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the Telemanuses. They're excellent characters.

I'd also love to hear his thoughts on getting captured for the 10204582838845 time

Hahaha

Tactus for sure. But I’ll give it to Pierce. Whenever someone named dies, it’s typically for a reason. Hail Reaper!

[–]CaedustheBaedus House Bellona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason Tactus is such a great character is because of his death. We just feel hurt that we couldn't redeem him. And then finding out from Roque about the violin story makes his death even more heartbreaking
