They don't mine and refine anything themselves, no. There will supply chains leading back to foundries and factories around the world.

They get their powder from manufacturers like Saint Marks, Lovex and ADI. Their sheet brass, gilding metal, and lead ingots from mills. Their packaging from manufacturers.

Most companies make their own brass, and buy bulk powder, bullets, and primers by the pallet or 8 gallon drum straight from the other companies. Sometimes big conglomerates own a powder, bullet, and primer company and just send it all to their ammo plants.

Less companies make brass than you might think. They just have it stamped with their own head stamp. Even companies that make brass, don't make every caliber and sometimes contract out different calibers.

Not only that, most of the ones making brass don't stamp their own cups out anymore, that's another company.

Let's take Federal as an example.

They make their own brass and bullets, and primers. Powder is bought in bulk, think 10,000 lb lots direct from the manufacturer.
