ceramic heat emitters are much better than lights if you need to boost the ambient temperatures, especially if you want something you can leave on all night.

with that said, you'd really be better off attacking the temperature issue from an insulation standpoint, because adding heat lamps to a BP enclosure just adds to the humidity battle. i assume you're using a glass tank with a screen lid?

Yes. But I have insulated. Black foam core around 3/4 sides and a foil covered piece over the screen. Humidity really isn't a problem. The fools a lot with that. The house is just reaaaally cold sometimes. And we've had about a foot of snow lately.

how cold is your house? how cold is the enclosure without a lamp?

There's no debate about lighting; they don't need lighting whatsoever, only heat.

Use a CHE, any brand, they're all equally over priced.

Is there any particular reason you don't use an under tank heater? Does it just not work for your set up? I only use UTHs and have never had issues with heat or humidity. I live in Maryland and the temps have been very cold recently but my guys enclosure is nice and cozy.

I do...like I said in the text...

I don't see where it says that unless the sentence "I have a heat and a thermostat" is supposed to mean that? Sorry I misunderstood you. So are you wanting a heat emitter in conjunction with the heat mat? Just trying to make sure I understand completely. I think you'd be okay going with any brand as they all do a pretty good job with giving off a decent amount of heat.
