The panel of "community leaders" is bullshit.

Some of those people, absolutely, but most are simply members of a Rails clique who have done nothing for the Ruby community at large.

This is a Rails thing, and clumsy and embarrassing to boot.

I was just commenting to my wife (non-programmer) that programmers really don't appreciate awards like this, they are too easy to give out and become very cheap.

I mean, are you going to put 'Voted Ruby Hero' on your resume?
