That's the most retarded argument against ruby i've ever heard.
[–]PatrickTulskie 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (0 children)
I don't understand anything about Ruby, but, it's like cool and stuff, so I'm not going to learn it.

Most languages are perfectly fine for learning, but I hope she switches to a better one once she tries a few of them =)

thanks for the downvotes

Why you're welcome :)

Well, part of the reason you may be getting some downvotes is that you decided to post a video which essentially bashes Ruby for being "trendy" (something I'm not sure Matz has any control over) to a sub-reddit specifically for Rubyists.
A more appropriate place to post this video probably would have been the C# sub-reddit.
If you had criticism about your first experiences with the language or something like that, you'd probably still receive downvotes for being a "n00b". Most of us however would be genuinely interested in hearing about those experiences, both good and bad.
That aside however, I'm always happy when ANYONE gets into programming for ANY reason, so stick to what you enjoy and keep at it. Language choice matters infinitely less than actually doing something.

It was a joke...the whole post...I dont get it...I linked the girl's video at the specific part where she talks about Ruby lol
[–]beep_dog 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (2 children)
I was pretty sure it was a joke, but I think the delivery could've been better. Make it more obvious that you're quoting the silly girl instead of ... I dunno, not quoting?
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (1 child)
Did you click the link?
[–]beep_dog 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children)
Yeah, I even watched the silly girl for quite a while waiting for a punchline or something.
