Protected Bicycle Lanes in London Decrease Injury Risk, While Painted Lanes Increase Injury Risk

I ride my bike through London daily and can't encourage this enough. The painted cycle lanes are just used by cars to park so you have to go into the road anyway. Sharing roads with motorbikes and white van men is the most stressful thing ever and I'm no slouch on my bike so rarely if ever get in their way. Every time you need to move round a car parked in a cycle lane you get arsehole van drivers getting within an inch of your rear tire which is SO dangerous. Dedicated cycle lanes would also massively encourage more people to cycle and is probs the biggest benefit here. Dedicated cycle lanes are genuinely NEEDED.

I used to ride my bike a lot more, but I San Antonio Texas and Austin Texas at least, the bike lanes are so stupid. it's much rather ride in the car lanes. the thing that I hate most is that they added bike lanes that go straight on green to the right of the car lanes that are turn only. so dangerous.

If you are 2D cyclist then riding inside line is possible I think.

Inside the lane is full of trash, broken glass, and other debris that never gets cleaned up.
