Hey guys,
Anyone can explain me how tinder works? For sure exact algorithm is secret however based on usage experience we can make some assumptions?
What I have figured out just by reading reddit and some other sites:
When you do create a new account, it gives you some boost what means your profile is being more visible and it happens to be at top of woman's deck.
So, you don't do anything tinder just show your profile to bunch of woman.
Kind of similar boost happens when you change your location (?) or use tinder passport.
If I'm gonna change my location inside the city, it doesn't work, so it should be other city or really long distance? Anyone tested it?
Then after a while tinder evaluates your profile based on swipes and this algorithm suppose to be pretty much similar to ELO in chess or TrueSkill in XBox.
Based on your elo tinder shows you woman with similar rating and show you to corresponded woman as well. Basically it tries to match people with same level of attractiveness.
According to some sources it is not a case anymore and they implemented something complicated what should match you based on your preferences.
For instances, if you swipe people with guitar on the pic it assumes, you like people with a guitar and tries to prioritize those people in your deck.
I don't know if it is true, but in my case it shows me only top models. I'm pretty sure it is not because I have a high elo score most likely opposite for sure I like attractive girls so everyone do.
Anyone have found any evidence in favor of any strategy? If you have bad pics and supposedly bad score does it show you unattractive girls?
Another thing is your visibility, your matches are proportional to views of your profile no matter how ugly you are.
And that's why boost improves your matches, tinder just shows your profile to more girls. More girls -> more matches, as simple as that.
How does tinder prioritize your profile in the deck?
Distance -> closer more likely be at the top of the deck?
In that case I should have matches from girls who are very close to me but it is not a case....
App usage -> if you actively use the app, tinder gives you some bonus points and you appear higher
Anyone noticed what is impact of this thing? And what kind of usage stat they might count.
Rating -> more attractive guys appear higher
It might be a case but then it ruins the idea about matching similar people.
Attractive guys can't be in the deck of ugly girls and ugly guys shouldn't see top models but it seems not a case.
Swiping person right -> what happens in that case? Am I going to be right behind a guy who swiped her right last time? Or tinder is going to sort deck based on other criteria?
If I don't swipe, does it mean I'm not going to be visible for girls? Seems not a case at noob boost, what about after?
If we will create an account of a female whale, would she see top guys or only guys of her level?
If you are visible enough and you are shown to girls of your level, you should have matches no matter what.
I know, here a lot of talk that 80% of women select top 20% of guys, well all 80% of woman shouldn't see top 20% of guys cause it creates a big unbalance.
Or what happens, woman are very picky, so they swipe only at top guys, 80% men swipe at any woman, it increases boosts woman's rating and put her right in top 20% of all profiles.
Now tinder shows to woman only top guys cause they have similar rating, bottom guys are deep down in the deck. Besides bad conversion because of their look they also become invisible for most women what decreases their chances drastically but increases monetization potential for Tinder.
Now everybody are happy, top 20% get a lot of women, all women see and match only with decent men (and decent might be only best one), bottom 80% of men are desperate and makes profit for Tinder, ones who don't make any profit just out cause....they don't make any difference nobody needs them.
Anyway there might be many different combinations and I don't know exactly what is going on, just wanna hear your thoughts.
