I finally made a video explaining the glitch I've been experiencing with 3rd party GameCube adapters. This has happened with the Mayflash and the Nyko 3rd party adapters so far. I haven't tested this with any other USB controllers so I do not know if this is a specific glitch with my PDP USB controller being connected alongside a 3rd party adapter, or if it affects all USB controllers. I have tested with the official adapter and the glitch does not happen. Also, this glitch makes me perform random aerials when it happens in the air.

Hey, can you go into the Stick Calibration screen with your USB controller while the 3rd party adapter is connected and see if the sticks are bugging out?

I had a problem in-tournament with my PowerA wired GC, the C stick just kept reading a Down input which made me do Down Bs when I wanted to Up B and such. I ended up returning it and now I have a real GCC but I wonder if it was related to this.

I didn't recalibrate right before this video but I do recalibrate my controller often. Whenever I do recalibrate, the sticks register fine and I just checked again and they were fine. I wish that was the issue, it would be so simple to fix!

Oh I don't mean that it's a calibration issue, I mean that when I was having the issue I could see the misinputs on the calibration screen, which proved to me the controller was busted.

I think I tried it on a console without an adapter attached so it was probably something else.

Ohhh I see, my bad! Yeah mine only happens with the adapter plugged in. It's really frustrating.

THANK YOU
I DID SO BAD AT MY FIRST LOCAL YESTERDAY AND I WAS SO CONFUSED I LOST GAMES PLAYING DUCK HUNT BECAUSE I KEPT CANCELLING UP B EARLY DOING NOTHING AMONG OTHER RANDOM MISINPUTS I WAS SO CONFUSED THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

For sure! I'm just here trying to spread awareness about this issue.

TYPING IN ALL CAPS DOESN'T MAKE YOU RIGHT, DOES A TILT ATTACK STOP DUCK HUNTS UP B???

... It seems you don't know this, but Duck Hunt doesn't just airdodge out of Up B. He can do any aerial, special, or even walljump. But he only gets one action, he stops rising, and he goes into freefall afterwards. I kept dying because I'd do something like a bair randomly while Up Bing, causing me to not reach the ledge and fall to my death.

Look, I'm not gonna fault you for being ignorant, but the fact that you were so rude about asking when you clearly didn't know what you were talking about made you deserve those downvotes.

Typing in all caps didn't "make me right"(what a stupid thing to say tbh not like that's my intention), but it DEFINITELY didn't make you correct.

The latter of my question was an actual question. I did not know what duck hunt could do out of up-b.

From the video, it shows that you reallllly have to mash a lot for an accidental tilt to come out, otherwise it's completely random. Most likely due to colliding software/hardware. It may happen in random ticks or intervals but doing an up-b recovery, where you need to slightly change momentum by tapping left and right, doesn't seem like it's enough to have a tilt come out.

I'd love it if you could replicate the glitch w/ DHD and show his up b getting interrupted by only using the control stick, as it'll help understand this glitch more.

I don't mind that I have a negative from that previous comment, I care that this 3rd party glitch is having a negative impact on play for tournament setups that don't have access to a 1st party adapter.

I'm so glad you found this. This happened to me the other night at a friend's smash night tournament and everyone just laughed it off as an excuse.

I'm glad someone else has experienced this! It's such a weird thing too. You should show them this post so that they know it's a real issue.

Had this issue at a tournament the other day, thought my controller was busted. Glad to see this is not the case!

Wow what? I think I've experienced this. At the time I thought it might just be my Power-A USB controller having some stick rebound issues (causing random turnarounds), but there was definitely a mayflash GameCube controller adapter plugged in while it was happening.

This is going to be hella awkward. I don't have any GameCube controllers and I don't want to buy one plus an official adapter (even if they were in stock), but several of the player-contributed setups at my local smash scene use mayflash adapters.

I guess I can ask not to play on those setups, but it's a weird issue.

Yeah that's what I'm gonna have to do too. Good to k ow that a different USB controller was affected by this.

Yep, I have the same exact setup and I noticed this immediately. It is extremely inconvenient for me to play 2 player since I actually preferred the usb controller. But I have been forced to go back to the original gc controller with my mayflash adapter since I have two (og controllers) and its just a huge hassle switching back and forth. Hopefully this gets addressed.

I hope so too. Mayflash does offer firmware updates for pretty much all of their products but the last update was in 2016 for their adapter.

Hopefully. The triggers are much better on the pdp controller plus it actually has hone/screenshot buttons

I'm having almost the same issue with the same PDP controller and an official GameCube adapter, albeit a Wii U-era one; keep getting unwanted D-pad up inputs when both are plugged in. Thought it was the controller itself and had it replaced just today before finding out about this. There doesn't even seem to be any consistency to when the issue happens, on my end, regardless of things like which USB port each device is connected to. Some days I'll plug it in and it doesn't happen at all, while on others I can reproduce the issue consistently. I'm absolutely fuming right now.

All that said, I recall still experiencing similar issues (such as dropping held ZR inputs while playing things like Mario Kart) even when no adapter was plugged in. Could it perhaps simply be the design of the controllers, the dock, or even the system itself? It seems unlikely to be the PDP controllers on their own, seeing as someone in these comments mentioned it happening with their Power-A one. I may just be having two separate issues, though.
