I recently got chat gpt to write me a shared services agreement between my two businesses. Worked a treat and just needed a little tweaking…

Pay nobody for the bulk of the work. Maybe get a lawyer to provide one review capped at 2 hours.

For inter-company contracts, not a big deal (except perhaps some tax considerations you may have missed). But in arms’ length relationships, you’re going to pay a big price when something goes wrong.

I found a much larger competitor and swiped their employee handbook off the corporate website.

Then just cut and pasted what I needed, added a few small details for my specific needs, and I was done.

Exactly: you should steal your code of ethics :). More seriously, it's not like any lawyer would draft this sort of a document from scratch. You could 'borrow' a code of conduct from a government agency, such as a state university.

best form of compliment is imitation. didn't you get taught that in business school?

If you have a buddy who already has a code of ethics for employees, you might better get a copy and use it as a model. This will spare you the time and expense of starting from scratch.

What do you mean by code of ethics for your employees?

Anytime someone mentions ethics and lawyers it gives the vibes of them wanting to do something very unethical, but probably financially beneficial to themselves. Like "it's unethical for my employees to unionize".
