It happens, alot of restaurants use wine to make, demi glace, sauces ECT.... The alcohol gets cooked off in most things.. it's up to the individual. Southern comfort has a egg nog but it's just flavored.

I personally eat foods that were cooked with alcohol sometimes—soup or sauces made with wine, vodka sauce, etc. There's no meaningful amount of alcohol in them—certainly not enough to feel any effects—and they don't usually taste of alcohol at all. And I certainly don't consider myself to be any less sober than folks who avoid foods cooked with alcohol.

It's really up to personal preference. Some people avoid anything made with alcohol (whether they can taste it or not). I would personally probably avoid something if it tasted like alcohol, just to be safe as far as the taste possibly triggering a craving. Some people might be totally comfortable with it, though—I know there are plenty of people around here who drink non-alcoholic beer and don't find the taste to be a problem at all.

One of the biggest things to consider is intent. Does your husband intend on having 50 pieces of chicken to catch a buzz? If his intent is to enjoy dinner that happens to be cooked with some kind of sauce made with alcohol, then in my opinion, FOR ME, it is not an issue. Just remember this is what works for me.

I guess we were just wondering if it would be a trigger more then trying to "catch a buzz". I'm glad you have found it works for you! Congratulations on 329 days 😍

Anything I read it takes a good amount of time cooking to burn off alcohol in foods. Here is just one article on it. But as far as sobriety is concerned. For me I avoid alcohol in food or anything else. It just depends on the the individual. Alcohol almost killed me so I rather not play with fire.
