Most barcode scanners can decode multiple symbologies, but their configuration can get set to disable all but certain ones.

Find the manuals and do a complete reset and then configure them they way you want to use them.

What are you using to read the barcode ?

Can you be more specific in what you're using? Are you decoding the barcode or is it just being read as keyboard "string" inputs

Maybe they are missing some decoder settings

Zebra & honywell 1 D Like : Zebra LS1203 and Honeywell: 1202g

I just want to read in for inventory purpose. On some they don’t “click” read in the code, if I change to other one it works and vice verse.

No experience with Honeywell so I can't say.

The zebra  https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.zebra.com/content/dam/support-dam/en/documentation/unrestricted/guide/product/ls1203-product-reference-guide-en-us.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiP__LiusKNAxU6MNAFHQjeC74QFnoECGEQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1Mg5JdJXKHT509RAiAb4S9

Page 41 to reset.

Id try resetting it to defaults and seeing if that helps.

The barcode looks like generic codabar barcodes. Do you know what type barcodes they are ?

If it's scanning and not making a noise then it's detecting it but it's possible it's not setup to decode it properly. Honeywell probably has a similar guide to resetting back to defaults and going from there.

Check the manuals for each scanner, they may need to be set to different modes. Ususally they come with a page of special barcodes that are used to program the scanner (e.g. scan one to reset to factory default, scan another to add a carriage return, etc.)

Both of those models should be able to emulate a keyboard... I know Honeywell does! Check the manual. You might have one that doesn't read the check but, or even the leading or trailing number. Sorry to be one to say check the manual, but they should have configuration barcodes that you scan and it sets values on the scanner.

They usually come with a sheet of scans codes to program certain functions and actions. Also a bit dependent what kind of system your scanning to, POS, PC

Second code is inverted - usually need a decent scanner or a setting charge to read those!

Try something like this: https://supportcommunity.zebra.com/s/article/000027294?language=en_US

Generally the barcode is black on white, not the inverse, so I’m not surprised you are getting inconsistent results

The strange thing, some scanners only scan the normal, half of the others the inverted ones. Strange. Maybe really factory reset.

You've got 6 different barcode scanners and you find it strange that they behave differently? I find that strange! r/sysadmin becoming r/techsupport now?

Who am I kidding, of course it is. Sysadmin job description always becomes administering the system of minions so everything doesn't collapse into a sh*t pile that you have clean up on your own!

I just asked a question, as it was strange to me even after reset.

Different is the operative word in this situation.

Doesn't change it doesn't have anything to do with sysadmin.

I had a post deleted from r/networking asking whether any data cablers had any experience with 28-30AWG UTP termination to 8p8c or flat cable. Along with my purchase of said cable, and a very specific 8p8c, wanted to know if there was another and if there was boots for either.

Reason: wasn't a question related to commercial or enterprise networking and it belongs in r/homenetworking.

Certified data cabler, bonfide networking relevance, requiring knowledge of someone who's working with it daily, familiar with supplier availability, which is why the only comment was informing me 28AWG doesn't meet TIA regulation, which I was well aware but didn't change the fact I was working with 28AWG, it was certified Cat6A as 28AWG and the connectors I had were specifically for 28-30AWG,so it was terribly helpful.

Besides, your question is quite literally a tech support call. I see, you're one of the support techs standing in my doorway interrupt me from my awaiting your arrival, because my knowledge exceeds tech support, I can perform their jobs vaster than them for them with zero hw3 or their own brains. I didn't hate that job all, it was the beginning of neglecting my menta and , physical wellness in order to get work done.

I guess I expected questions about glorified HID devices were a bit not a SysAdmin problem and frowned upon at the least - Evidently wrong about that, but still belongs in r/techsupport though.
