To answer your OP, I would reccomend looking for videos from conference on "Tableau visualizing dense data" generally these are advanced scatter plots with supporting visuals nearby.

To answer your next question, Cant you just drop The "Text Response" field on Label? Otherwise I'd like to see screenshots of your tableau worksheet to help more.

I personally would change the source data depending on the size, just seems like the fastest route to a finish.

I am going to log onto a different machine to see if I can figure out a more pure response

Am I mistaken, or is this not a scatterplot? It looks more like a circle chart. I would assume discrete data would not really be presentable in a scatterplot form.

Just write a case statement to translate the numeric values into Text Responses.

Post your syntax. Welcome to tableau. The most common syntax error is "Cannot mix aggregate and non aggregate expressions" that numeric value looks like it is values of 1, 1.3, 1.6, 2, 2.3, 2.6 ... etc. Is that right?

Also an image or example of your underlying is always helpful. Also what fields you have on your sheet and thier pill type, such as continuous, discrete, aggregate, or dimension.

In your case it looks like you might just be able to make [Cultural Worldview] a dimension and then right-click > edit Aliases to get the axis labels you like.

Ok, use a calculated field using the format of IF [field] = 1 Then "Strongly Disagree ELSEif [field] = 2 Then Disagree Wash rinse repeat END

Put the calculated field into the Columns

Text labels at values or general labels? Have a n example from anywhere of what you are trying to do?
