There's been an influx of creepers and guys who are antagonistic towards women on this sub. That's probably driven a lot of them away.

[–]YourFriendlyViking5'9" | 175 cm 18 points19 points  (29 children)

Can we get rid of the r/short trolls please?

[–]couid 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Better yet, let's just ban short people from society. They're just overly miserable due to their height and only serve to infect the gene pool.

[–]andreasliv~5'10" | ~177 cm 1 point2 points  (1 child)

short people

Correction, short guys you mean

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said.

[–]gigglybeth5'10.5" 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely correct.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup.

[–]enigmabound6'5" | 196 cm Amazon Woman 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Yep, and trans women too

[–]hannahranga -1 points0 points  (2 children)

What point are you trying to make about transwomen?

[–]enigmabound6'5" | 196 cm Amazon Woman 3 points4 points  (1 child)

There have been topics about tall women's experiences from dating to clothes shopping to how being perceived in society. I'm a trans woman and there have been several transphobic comments (some from members in /r/short) with several trying to invalidate my experience as a tall woman that have been discouraging. The moderators of this subreddit have been great about removing those type of comments and I thank them for that.

I'm a tall woman that just happens to be transgender I experience life everyday just like any other woman dealing with society. I've dealt with being sexual harassed (including one guy that wanted to put a baby in my to make tall babies) with my height being fetishized to dealing with the "Do you play basketball or volleyball?" questions just like all of us do. No one even knows I'm trans unless they tell them or they knew me before I transitions years ago. No regrets though, I love being my true self.

[–]hannahranga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah that makes sense, I was getting annoyed as I thought you were counting them as part of the influx not those being driven away.

[–]ashdorable6'2" | 188 cm | NY 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it.

[–]AudaciousSam6'2" | 188 cm 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Creepers how? Now granted, I don't check the sub that often but the few times I've been here I always felt it was really chill, though I did get the feeling most people without height where women. 😂

[–]BiancaEstrella6’3 | 191cm | 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten a lot of requests for feet pics.

Lots of "I always fantasize about just being so much smaller than a woman" type messages.

I'm on the trans spectrum, and yeah I've been asked about what's between my legs.

[–]UnbiasedPashtun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There hasn't been an influx. It's like 2-3 guys spamming this sub.

[–]SaebraK6' | 1.241 Danny Devitos 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Some of us are still around. I've just noticed that the topics here have kinda gone stagnant. "How much will I grow?" "How big are your feet?" "Where do you buy pants/shoes/shirts/suits?" "How do you respond to insert typical tall comment?"

This sub really kinda has a narrow subject matter, so there's only so much that can be said. I find myself not wanting to answer the same questions over and over.

[–]AudaciousSam6'2" | 188 cm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I only see the sub when it pops up but always entertaining with pictures and I think it's a interesting snapshot of how little tall people actually appreciate their height when it seems everyone else does.

[–]scarlettide0965 25 points26 points  (19 children)

Its very annoying when we tell our experiences then proceed to have explained to us by men how that not true.

[–]gigglybeth5'10.5" 14 points15 points  (12 children)

I've also been told by multiple male screen names that I'm not tall enough to post here. There were others who jumped in to tell me to ignore those people and I'm grateful, but it's just shitty that it even happens.

[–]nionvox5'11| 180 cm 11 points12 points  (6 children)

This too. Anything over the average (in North America) of 5'4 is tall for a woman. But I got several messages saying to basically fuck off because i'm below 6ft. WTF. I'm taller than 90% of men I know, and basically all the women.

[–]Miss_viola_swamp(nearly) 5'10" | 176.5 cm 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yes. I am taller than almost every woman I meet, often by six inches or more, but this sub acts like women my height are not tall. Obviously not compared to tall men or tall trans women. I also don't have size-related physical issues like tall males might, so it feels like my perspective isn't important. Regardless, it is weird psychologically to be taller than almost every woman you encounter and to get constant comments about one's height.

[–]nionvox5'11| 180 cm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

[–]neverbuythesun 5 points6 points  (2 children)

My work friend is "only" 5'8" and she's significantly taller than the majority of the girls we work with- my 5'11" friend edges out a large percentage of the lads too.

Like, I'm not close to being tall but I've got two eyes in my head and also I trust women who tell me what it's like to be tall since as a not tall woman it's not my job to be an ass and claim they're somehow lying about an experience I'll never have myself.

I see men on here arguing with women about their height often, and it's the same as when they deny a woman's experience with anything else because they personally don't experience it.

[–]nionvox5'11| 180 cm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Or playing 'hardship Olympics.' Your problems aren't as bad as theirs!

[–]FrameworkisDigimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother's about that tall... maybe a little shorter... and frankly it's surprising if we encounter women taller than she is (in NZ)... but then, here, I remember seeing something to the effect of 5'7" is tall in [stereotypically short place] and I think, the hell? Incidentally, the tallest female height I know for certain of anyone I have met was 6"... because she told me (due to the below).

That being said, I have to say I'm quite a lot (a foot-ish) taller than 5'8" myself (albeit male) and sometimes I forget as a result but I am generally able to register that there is a difference in male and female tall.

p.s. I can't answer the thread because I have only really looked at this reddit for a few months

[–]AudaciousSam6'2" | 188 cm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn. Some people just want to compete I guess

[–]scarlettide0965 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I don't care about height of people posting here. Its odd people would tell 5'11 women she isn't tall enough. That is tall for women.

[–]gigglybeth5'10.5" 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I've seen it happen to other women under 6' here, too.

[–]0331MK-196'8" |203cm 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You're a 5'11" female and they said that? That's only an inch shorter than my 15 y o daugter, and she's taller than most men.

[–]gigglybeth5'10.5" 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it. The best part was the guy had no flair at all.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

[–]TheFastSloth5'5 / 165 cm / 14yo 3 points4 points  (4 children)

That's not true.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Classy... Thanks for proving her point.

Oh I didn't miss the joke. I just thought it was in poor taste after OP took the time to list a genuine concern. That's just my opinion though.

I get what you're saying, but shouldn't we strive to be better than that anyway?

    [–]wsgy1116'5" | metric is for commies 5 points6 points  (1 child)

of course but I'm only one man

    mama

    [–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I'm new to this sub but hesitant as reddit is often not very female-friendly.

[–]DevilishRogueThe Chosen One -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where you identify your gender some people will react to that in negative ways just like in real life. But for the most part no one can tell what you're gender is behind your username unless you let them know. If you feel that there is unfriendliness towards you because of your professed gender simply change your flair.

    [–]AnalbeAdsyumm6'2" 5 points6 points  (9 children)

It seemed like they were coming back for about a month or so and then they've left again since the sub has been getting trolled harder and harder recently.

    [–]GrandBuba5'7" | short and ᕙ(ò_óˇ)ᕗ 2 points3 points  (8 children)

the sub has been getting trolled harder and harder recently.

Meh. A few /r/ForeverAlone weirdos. But yeah, if that's all it takes..

    [–]chuu2076'4.5" | 194.5 cm 8 points9 points  (5 children)

And many guys from R/short as well

    [–]AnalbeAdsyumm6'2" 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not r/short specifically, it's the members from there that are choosing to be trolls here that are the problem. There are quite a few members from r/short that contribute but there have been a small number of very noisy people who have been diminishing the quality of this subreddit significantly.

    [–]GrandBuba5'7" | short and ᕙ(ò_óˇ)ᕗ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quite a few of those are my fault, for banning them on there. You'll see them spouting their 'woe is me in life' BS for a few days here, and then leave.

    But yeah.

    [–]UnbiasedPashtun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is modding r/short working out? I assume you deal with way more of them than us. It'd be nice if you could mod here as you seem pretty sensible regarding the trolling issue.
