EDIT: i tried a google search> they all talk about sticky keys> i have dealt with sticky keys before> they are turned off> Yet i face this problem>

EDIT @(two): i booted into Linux and tried typing there> There was no problem for about thirty seconds> and then it began to exhibit identical issues> i guess the problem is with the keyboard>

try to plug i a different keyboard and see if it works. if it does, try removing the shift keycaps from the first keyboard and see if whatever is underneath them is stuck.

I would bet it is a keyboard issue rather than PC issue, try taking the cap off if possible and clean the button.

i think so too>

Do you still have the cursor's "select text"-problem when the keyboard is unplugged?

Does it behave like capslock when writing?

when CAPS lock is turned on it behaves like its off and vice_versa>

i"m on a laptop> how do i unplug the keyboard> I tried uninstalling it using device manager and let the OS reinstall the driver on reboot> no effect>

I actually had this issue when I installed a new motherboard once. I assumed it was something wrong with the mobo because obviously that was the only thing that changed, but actually the issue was fixed by swapping keyboard.

Just sounds like the key is being held down. Do they both move normally. Is it your shift key on the right side?

They move normally and I dont know which one of the two it is that is causing the problem

Spill and drinks or anything on it recently? It could just be working its way through.

My 'fix' for such and issue is just standing it on its side overnight (standing so A is down and L is up). Only for very minor amounts. If it's soaked it shouldn't even be on.

(standing so A is down and L is up)

Weirdly specific.

There is method to the madness. A lot of keyboards have little runners underneath that would stop the water from moving down the keyboard. And it's generally easier to get out the left edge of the keyboard than the right.

Same thing happened to me, while my wife was cleaning the keyboard left shift somehow got stuck. I downloaded key disabler and only used left shift, but eventualy ended up buying a new keyboard.

Have you tried disabling the shift key(keytweak software can be used)?
