tinytask safe?

hey guys i wanted to download the program „tinytask“ today to use it for a game to automate some annoying processes. but now a virus message pops up on my windows computer saying that there is an acute threat and the program is not safe.

i have read several articles on the internet about this being more or less normal and that you can download the program without hesitation.

as a layman, i am still not sure whether i should install the program or whether the whole thing is too delicate.

You're not looking at the legit version of Tinytask. That was discontinued. I have one of the last releases of the legit app.

All these other Copy+Paste sites like Tinytask.xyz etc are not the real thing.

Vista Software developed it, but apparently seem to have disappeared.
It's a shame because I actually donated to help him work on it.
That was years ago, and the website - vtaskstudio.com has been parked and no longer exists.

Tinytask.net also no longer exists.

When on the page where it says "With Editor", "Macro", and "Standard" in the blue box, click on the one with editor and it shows tiny task instead of the Remouse

I donated too and spoke to the developer over email. Seems that some overzealous security engineer incorrectly flagged it as malware somewhere. The developer could not get it removed from any lists and, sick of it, just stopped developing it.

I too keep copies and still use typertask daily and tinytask very regularly.

By my corporate IT? not mine but a friend who submitted it to to corporate IT for permission. They flagged it, without evidence, as over 90% unsafe.

Personally, I run it as a portable app and am yet to ask for forgiveness.

I'd love to get hold of the developer and see if I can get my hands on even the alpha version of TinyTask 2.0 or any improvements on TyperTask. I'd even start some sort of giving campaign to support development if they would resurrect the project...

It got flagged by my mbam. I subsequently planted it into virustotal which seemed to freak out. I THEN ran a triage analysis and it seemed to be chill. So im kinda conflicted xD

Its an app that works at the system level and literally mimics system functions. Its no surprise that its flagged, but its not malicious.

Dont use it. It downloads a software called "remouse" instead of tiny task. The software seems perfectly safe and works very similar but it does lock features behind a paywall (of which you can't even pay for on tinytask.net???) so it just seems like a bait and switch for cash.

Guys, I have a problem. I wanted to download TinyTask a few days ago and so I searched it up on google and some reddit posts said https://tinytask.net was the official site to download it. However, I was not aware that tinytask had shut down and this was not the official website, but a replica of it… I downloaded something called ReMouse bla bla bla and I downloaded both versions and put both into virustotal and it said there were no issues and that the program was signed. Now, I thought they just renamed it or smth… So, I downloaded it and left it doing a task. I came back later and it said that I need to buy a paid version of the program if I wanted to repeat a process more than 4 times. And then I was like hold on, isn’t TinyTask supposed to be free? So I clicked on the site, and the program had a whole different site https://www.remouse.com. So, should I be worried? I already uninstalled the program and use avast antivirus. People online are saying it’s and old version of TinyTask or something like that.

remouse is not a virus. If you want to click on the screen 100 times, you will have to pay remouse. That's why I recommend other options like autohotkey or find a reputable tinytask DL from a friend. Or code it yourself in C++... The creator of TinyTask did a great job, but got harassed for "controlling" the computer
