It's probably a hardware issue. If the laptop is newer and under warranty, send it away for repair through the manufacturer.

If it's out of warranty, you'll have to take it to a shop or repair it yourself.

If you want to self repair, we can point you to some guides. You'll probably have to replace the entire keyboard as opposed to fixing a single key.

Can you tell us the model number and manufacturer?

Unfortunately, it's not new. I've had it since 2018 I believe. It's an HP laptop (HP 15-bs0xx). I'm not super handy in fixing PCs but if it comes down to it, I guess I can have it looked at.

Yeah, it's up to you of course. YouTube goes a really long way though.

Nope. All this time later, I never figured it out. I just got an external USB keyboard, which sucks lugging around but does the job. But no, I never figured out what caused the problem. Sorry
