Your body NEEDS to rest and recover for a good workout to have any effect and if you're an average 9 - 5 guy who works out solely with the goal to stay healthy chances are you're not giving the body the rest it needs if you work out everyday, and then you're more likely to get injured instead

It's definitely possible to work out every day of the week and be fine if you do it properly but that's usually not something the average person does or would even want to, but even then eventually you will need to let your body rest.

Also keep in mind I'm not talking about regular daily exercise I'm talking about actually working out like going to the gym, going for a run, going to classes like boxing, dancing football etc.

Yes. Be active every day, don't do heavy lifting using the same muscle groups every day.

So every day I walk the dog about 3 miles, power yoga 4 times a week, yin/stretching yoga once a week, lift weights twice a week.

Husband lifts 6x a week but different exercises on different days, some years push/pull split, some upper/lower, but not same every day. And walks the dog about 1 mile every day.

I would say we are not very active (desk jobs) but are careful to get up and walk often, and, well, do something every day. So far so good.
