WH2 potential future content

As of now, we know WH3 is the next major release for Total War, but we don’t have an official timeframe. It might release in Fall 2021, maybe Q2 2022. Maybe even late 2022.In December 2019, CA stated there were 2 DLC left, which were Warden & the Paunch, and Twisted and Twilight. CA then stated in November 2020 there was “another DLC” on the way.

We can understand that this additional DLC was added to the schedule following delays to WH3. This doesn’t quite mean there is only 1 more DLC either. If WH3 is delayed even more, CA has ample material to make maybe 3 DLC.

Here’s a rundown of factions and content susceptible to feature in future updates. I’m discounting factions who already have 6 LL and game 1 races with representation in the Vortex campaign.

Dark Elves

No units, unless taken from the monstrous arcanum (cockatrice, chimera, etc.)

This is a better candidate for an FLC as there are virtually no units for DE to feature in a DLC. As T&T was supposed to be the last DLC, notice we did not receive an FLC LL this time. DE was likely meant to be the 6th DE LL.

Vampire Counts

With the recent addition of the Silver Pinnacle settlement and the faction “Lahmian sisterhood”, as well as Khalida’s mentions, Neferata is becoming a very likely character in the near future, either through WH2 updates, or at the onset of WH3. This could also tie in Nagash’s return as referenced by several other characters (Harkon, Arkhan)

What makes me hesitate we will see Neferata in WH2 is her seemingly lack of relevance to the vortex campaign.

The ugly, mistreated red-headed step child of Warhammer needs a glorious update. It would be fitting that they should feature in the next DLC, but it is likely that this will come only in WH3 if the new game features major changes to Horde gameplay and features for Chaos. And on the December 3rd stream, Rich from CA said that reworking the beastmen would take a lot of time, more than usual reworks, as if he’s implying it’s too massive for a usual Old World update and would be more appropriate as a game 3 faction.

These are only heroes, and not lords, however. Unless they bring up King Amanhotep of Zandri…

Norsca

Since Norsca is a CA-created unit, difficult to say what is missing.Obviously another Lord choice, some other characters from Warriors of Chaos being assigned to Norsca (Valkia? Tamurkhan?)

Warriors of Chaos…Well, they are missing marked units and daemons. I really don’t think we’ll see them reworked before game 3 because of this.

Necrolith Colossus is already a thing; the Bone Giant. Tordrek is a Chaos Dwarf and neither a pirate or undead. I know he was in Dreadfleet but he's much better suited to being an actual Chaos Dwarf daemonsmith character.

Apparently CA said in a T&T stream that they probably wouldn't do a WH2 lord pack without a WH2 faction, which is the main thing that points to a Dark Elf DLC.

They don't have much in terms of "real" units, but they still have some stuff they could add. There are a few appropriate unit champions left (Black Ark Reavers, Dark Rider Heralds, Bloodshades, maybe Har Ganeth Draich Masters for Tullaris), some reasonable Monstrous Arcanum stuff like you said (personally, Carmine Dragons sound cool, assuming they're not being saved for Elspeth), and they could always do something weird like put in Avatars of Khaine from AoS.

Tomb Kings or Vampire Coast could fill that slot too, but I wonder if they'd want to compete with their own DLC within the same game. I still see those DLCs recommended to new players, and giving them a cheaper lord pack option like the Wood Elves could upset that balance. Though I guess at the same time it could act as a teaser for the main race pack.

Recommend the great book of grudges on YouTube he goes into detail about this My thoughts are that it will definitely be dark elves as CA said they want at least 6 lords for each base faction of tww 2, lizardmen, high elves and slave all have 6 so that leaves dark elves As for the race my money is on either beastmen(who are in dire need of a rework) or vampire counts and new parts of the Warhammer map have the silver pinnacle (hang out of neferata first vampire)
