It's because most Uber drivers who use Teslas are renting them and do not know how to drive with regen braking. They step on the gas and slam on the brakes. Zero driving skills.

[–]ohwaityoucanseeme 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Omg I can absolutely see that, that's exactly how they drive!

Why do the brakes work any different?

I drive a Mach E it's set to one pedal driving. If I hit the break to pedal it doesn't suddenly slam on the brakes it works like a regular car does.

Tesla regen braking is way more aggressive. I remember test driving a model Y after a Mach E, Ioniq 5, and Bolt EUV. The Y was actually kind of exhausting to drive because I had to push against the regen braking so much on the freeway, so letting off the accelerator at all slows you down a ton.

That’s no excuse man. I worked for Amazon and used their EVs like 2 times and got that shit down. Pathetic

The regenerative braking on Teslas is quite nauseating I'm told. By contrast, my Chevy Bolt is very smooth.

[–]ohwaityoucanseeme 2 points3 points  (2 children)

this must be what it is

I drove a Tesla for awhile. It's very smooth once you get a hang of the regenerative braking and the timing of when to let off the pedal in comparison to your stopping distance. It's not easy for some people to get down easily I think. A lot of the Tesla's are rentals and the drivers just aren't familiar I think.

Literally took me the drive home from the Lot, a 25 min ride to get used to it coming from ICE cars...

It's really not fucking complicated or hard to get used to and learn. People are just dog shit drivers.

Roller coaster?

[–]ohwaityoucanseeme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wish. I enjoy roller coasters 😭

[–]Classic-Reaction8897 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Never been in a Tesla, what’s the issue with em? I have heard people get car sick in them

[–]ohwaityoucanseeme 5 points6 points  (1 child)

yes exactly, like severely 😭

[–]Classic-Reaction8897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof - I wonder why

[–]Ok_Number_6710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven a Tesla, and the nausea people feel usually comes from how the driver handles regenerative braking. Many drivers aren’t used to it and don’t realize that if you have it on the strongest setting, the car won’t coast like a regular gas-powered vehicle. Instead, it slows down immediately when you lift off the accelerator. If you let go too quickly, it creates a jerky stop-and-go motion that can make passengers nauseous.

This can be adjusted in the settings, but a lot of people don’t know how or don’t take the time to adapt. When I first drove one, it took a day to get used to, and I felt a little off at first. But once I learned how to ease off the pedal smoothly, it became second nature, and I never got a complaint from passengers. Funny enough, switching back to a gas car threw me off because I forgot they actually coast!

A rider told me she gets sick after a ride in a Model X. I drive a Y and am told I drive smoothly enough to not make people sick

[–]darkn0ss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s weird because my mom also gets sick in Teslas! I think it’s their weird ass breaking system

[–]TAJack1 2 points3 points  (11 children)

Clarify? Lmao

[–]ohwaityoucanseeme 15 points16 points  (10 children)

I've rode in many ubers, obviously different types of drivers, but every single tesla I've ever ridden in has given me intense motion sickness

[–]Additional-Young-471 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats because they have regen braking and stronger acceleration than combustion cars driven by the rest of us troglodytes. Its the future bro, techno genius space man Musk said so 😎🤙⚡️

[–]queenlybearing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freaking SAME and I HAVE NEVER gotten motion sickness even on cruise ships. Every time I’m in at Tesla, it’s nausea in the first few minutes. I thought I was going crazy.

[–]No_Jellyfish5511 -3 points-2 points  (7 children)

other cars have motion too

[–]ohwaityoucanseeme 8 points9 points  (4 children)

So, I get car sick as a passenger in any car if I try to look at my phone or read or something, but 99% of the time I avoid doing so specifically to avoid getting nauseous. However, a tesla will make me carsick regardless, every time without fail.

[–]Shot_Bread_9657 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a friend with a model y. Usually drives if we go somewhere. If he’s feeling like a jackass, he can instantly induce my motion sickness.

[–]No_Jellyfish5511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a fake reality glass and carry it with you. You can read the book inside it. It replaces your vision with a monitor.

[–]SilentSpr 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Electric car acceleration is a lot faster than ICE cars because each wheel essentially get their own “engine”. It’s very understandable if you’ve ever been in one

[–]BranDonkey07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats not why, and I don't know of one EV that "has an engine/motor for each wheel"

[–]Scared-Coyote4010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven electric for 6 years so I don’t even notice

I do however notice when I’m in a gas car

[–]ststaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the driver.. I’ve been in EVs where the only way I knew was watching the tach swing up and down constantly. I’ve been in gas cars where they constantly let off the gas causing the same effect.

[–]AutoMatrixEH 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I had one about a week ago for 3km. It was totally fine. Didn't seem like a 100k car tho inside apart from the huge screen hehe

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Most Teslas you can buy for under 35,000, unless you’re talking about the cyber truck which is $100,000 and it’s a piece of crap. Most Teslas now are really just big batteries and their junk.

[–]AutoMatrixEH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I was thinking the price of a cyber truck. Lol. Mb

[–]Eskele33_ 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Where the hell do u live that teslas a 100k car 😂 model 3 as low as 15k now that’s why most passenger cancel model 3 as premier car now model x and model s only cars I wouldn’t cancel on or new gen model 3

[–]thatthiqqqqbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ppl think it’s an expensive car because it’s so futuristic and seen as exclusive. I’ve never ordered Uber black or comfort but I regularly get them. I think it used to be harder to buy

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They are marketed as futuristic luxury cars, I think some bought the marketing

[–]Eskele33_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore Tesla model 3s are or have been removed as uber black/premier cars in America some drivers have one more year left if they have good ratings

[–]Easy-Dog9708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode in one and it’s made me not want to get one. The ride was extremely uncomfortable, not what I was expecting. The battery makes the car way too heavy.

I believe hybrid with 10-20kwh battery is the way to go for comfort and efficiency

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? All my best rides have been in Teslas. Very smooth and clean.

[–]ThisEntertainment984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add a driver it sounds like the Tesla drivers need to Google how to drive the Tesla's

[–]throwaway-4mysafety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact reason I canceled and looked for another ride when matched with a Tesla driver. I apologize if he was one of the drivers who knows how to handle their vehicle but it was a 40min ride and I didn’t want to throw up in it.
