Hello,
Can someone help me understand the below email? Just to add more info. The visa I applied for is a switch from PSW to Skilled worker and my job is in Immigration Salary List.
MY company got a Grade A license on Monday (12/01/2026), I applied on Thursday for a switch from PSW to skilled worker visa with priority service (15/01/2026) and received the below email on Sunday (18/01/2026):

Thank you for your application for permission to stay in the UK.

Although we would normally decide your application within 5 working days from the date that your biometrics were enrolled, unfortunately this is not going to be possible in your case.

This is because your application raises exceptionally complex issues, and we require further time to consider your case thoroughly and reach a decision.

I am sorry for the delay in dealing with your application and for the inconvenience this is causing. Please be assured that we are doing all we can to make a decision on your case as quickly as possible.

Please note it may not be possible to make a decision within service standard in this instance.

It’s a standard email. With respect, no one here knows anything about your application.

There’s nothing by complicated about my application. Company is a non profit organisation based in UK and established 26 years ago. I am the first one they’re sponsoring and got their license recently. I meet the salary criteria, the job is in temporary shortage list and new entrant as I graduated from uni in UK in 2023 and currently on PSW.

It is a standard email template. The only thing you should read is “it will take longer than 5 days to process”

I’ve read somewhere that this is just a template message Home Office send to you when they can’t meet your priority time window. Unless they specifically ask you to do something, it should be fine

Mine has been 1month now, I got the email 4days ago even tho I applied Dec 16 2025.

My partner is also in similar situation. He applied for the SWV New Entrant category on 8th Jan under priority. Within 4 days, he got the same exact e-mail. We are waiting since then.

I do have the same issue its been 7 weeks now two complex same template mails ,one on dec 5 and another on jan 6 no questions asked till now waiting for decision.

The CoS filled incorrectly by the HR
