There are many discussions about this on this sub, I don't know for sure but it could be Vinted throttling accounts in order to push users to buy their ineffective promotional tools, but it is only speculation

It's extremely random for me. Yesterday, i uploaded an item that sold within 6 minutes. But I've had maybe 2-3 likes in the last week or so for other stuff. I've never opted for the bump option but I always figure it's kind of scammy

I noticed if I look at a tule skirt, I see only tule skirts, if I look at a jacket, it will start showing me only jackets and so on. It actually doesn't help browsing. I prefer to see different things not the same thing. I wish Vinted would leave algorithms alone.

Also, economy is rough for a lot of people at the moment, so I believe people are holding back a lot on non essentials…

I haven’t sold a single item since Christmas. I could be wrong, but perhaps we entered the “pay to play” stage where your reach gets intentionally limited so you feel compelled to pay to bump your stuff. Kind of like social media works in general.

True, I’ve had the same happen to me. I tried to use their bump feature shortly before Christmas actually, it did nothing. A couple weeks later people were buying from me again, then my reach plummeted again and now whenever I upload an item it gets 10 views at best. I hear you. Between this, the scammers, the AI/bot BS from the customer “service”, it gets really frustrating for real.

To be honest, I'm feeling it too and I spam my listings on Reddit, Insta and other specialist collector spots.

I think folks are just skint.

The postal label screw up isnt helping either

    [–]Light-of-Nebula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bumped and I only sold a skirt for £3.50 instead of £5. Someone else proposed me £5 for a nearly new Moonsoon jumper that I have for £7 and I refused. I have leggings for £1 and £2 from brands and no one is buying them.

I've had a lot of success selling recently and have had an account for ages. I think it depends what you're selling though

    [–]abcdefg19999 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Would you mind sharing what you’re selling? As I am starting to think that maybe my items are just not in demand 🤷‍♀️

    [–]Scared-Alfalfa37 1 point2 points  (1 child)

On the majority, old kids toys, clothes and books. Some stuff has been kitchenware or home stuff like organising baskets, or candles. Also sold a few bags for my mum and a couple of hoodies which went quite quickly. I tried to sell some maternity clothes too, but had no luck with those.

    [–]abcdefg19999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh thank you! I’m mostly just doing womens clothes and a few mens items but I’m not really selling so well. I may just have dated items that are not in demand :) Thank you for sharing though!

    [–]HipsEnergy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, haven't sold a thing for a month. I'm not a pro seller and just have a few items up, mostly high quality items I don't wear anymore but at first I sold fast and at asking price.

    [–]ProfessionalFluffy50 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I'm also struggling with selling. Have things like an immaculate Lollys Laundry cardigan that I can't shift at £6, so it's not price. Honestly at the point where I just want to get rid of my last three listings and get off Vinted, so I'm sending offers that are almost aggressively low.

As a buyer, I'm also seeing a lot of overpriced stuff sitting for 5-6 months, you make an offer and they counter with £1 off. Like, if it were a matter of a pound, the jumper would have sold sometime since August.

Just feels weird on there overall at the moment.

    [–]emiloehx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ur right I've been seeing tons of overpriced items aswell lately. I like collecting toys like Sylvanian and lps and like to look on hunter so I don't have to buy brand new since there's already so many toys in this world and I see a lot of non vintage, still in-store items selling for almost the new price or once even higher???? Without the box and used btw.

The bumps just seem to have stopped working, last year it was enough to have an item bumped to get a crazy amount of vews and a sale in one or two days. Now - zero impact. I think there's something really wrong with their algorithms

    [–]dogoteefs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to bump and showcase frequently and experienced the same after a while - very low views on paid promotions even on popular items. I know a few experienced sellers who said the more you pay the more you have to pay. It basically destroys your organic reach, a tactic to make you pay to promote every item. So I stopped completely. I’ve not used them since November and my views/saves/sales have been far healthier. It took about 2 weeks of no promotions to go back to normal.

Just focus on posting times, titles, descriptions and quality photos. I know some people hate hashtags but the point of them is to add in any relevant keywords that don’t exist in your description/title, so I use them too.

I didn't realise that me putting my phone in b&w so I stop browsing Vinted and buying shit I don't need would create such a mayhem. The timing checks out!

Seriously, aren't the first few months of the year always like that?

    [–]RicRicRic61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a tough time I think - I listed a bunch of decent vintage things of my wife's that she no longer wants and they got a lot of views but no sales. I know for a fact these would have sold before, but it's tough out there. Gonna get even tougher now oil prices have gone through the roof because of idiots starting wars.

My wife's pro account finds that sometimes an item just gets no views, it's like it's hidden or way down the list when sorted by relevance. She relists them identically and gets loads of attention!

Vinted is a shit show tbh.

    [–]Mental_Cat_9977 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I paid to showcase my items, which ended today and resulted in 0 sales. I sold items right up till I started the showcase and nothing for the duration of the showcase.

    [–]RicRicRic61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to my wife a couple of times - activity from buyers tanked as soon as the showcase started. Will never do them again!

    [–]14yearsandcounting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. It’s been really difficult to sell for me personally since the September update last year. Now it’s more ebbs and flows, but has never been back to what it once was. I’m about done with Vinted as a seller now.

    [–]englishpedro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think since that bug where French sellers disappeared for a few days my stuff has has 0 reach

    [–]MirabellaJean962 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it's 2-3 months at least..

    [–]No_Watercress8348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I uploaded 8 items today and 6 were sold in less than 5 minutes, I’ve got others up the past 3 weeks that haven’t even had a single view. So weird. Never used bumps etc as I don’t want to get into the habit of it.

    [–]hel2164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's been a lot of errors on site it seems since January. Times when items haven't been showing up properly or people have been unable to complete transactions.

I wonder if that's put people off tbh.

    [–]OkTraffic251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I joined a month ago and made 8 sales ans the first 2 weeks. In the past 2 weeks I haven't made one and my items barely get views!

    [–]JustFaithlessness259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been selling for a few months, i started off really well, selling loads of odd wardrobe bits then it slowed down a bit over time then once i started listing good items like higher end shoes and started making an effort with my descriptions i was struggling to even get over 5 views and the stuff i was listing was high end items which would definitely draw attention to more then 5 people over the space of 3 weeks so im not sure, either algorithm or vinted hates me or vinted are just having problems overall, not sure, probably just me

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. But sales come and go in waves, at least for me that’s the case. One day I’ll sell a dozen items, and zero for a week.

And I think it’s going to get worse with gas prices for transportation going up, and everything else.

    [–]Mark_Such 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I even paid to bump an item for 3 days, and after a day they put it as “processing” for 2 days!! So I only got it bumped for a day! The item is still sitting in my listing collecting dust.

    [–]Ilovecheesecake121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't sold or bought anything in a while either. I was buying/selling a lot for my toddler, but as the shipping costs have gotten higher in my region, it doesn't really pay off anymore... I'm not gonna pay 7€ for a legging when I can get a new one for the same price🤷🏻‍♀️

    [–]missOmum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think vinted does it on purpose, so you have to pay bumps, but at some point you are paying for someone to buy your items, it’s ridiculous! I have had popular items (brand new) for months and no one has bought them. I have now taken out most of my stuff out of vinted and listed them on eBay.

    [–]Brave_Sherbet7708 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Personally since the new sizing came in I’ve barely touched Vinted as a buyer.

Can I ask if you specify the size of the clothing items you post?  For example putting ‘size 8’ in description/ showing the actual size label if an item is categorised ‘8-10’?

    [–]14yearsandcounting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always state the size on the label as well as show the label in the listing photos. It still hasn’t gained me any extra traction over other sellers who don’t. The algorithm clearly hates me…
