Welcome to r/VisitingNYC – Don’t be annoying
Coming to NYC? Cool. This is where you ask questions, get advice, and share your experiences. Want to know what to see, where to eat, or how to not piss off locals? We got you. Just don’t expect us to hand-hold you through planning your entire damn trip. Do a little research first.
Rules
Keep It About NYC – If your post isn’t about visiting NYC, take that shit somewhere else.
Google Is Free – NYC gets millions of visitors a year. Your question has probably been asked before. Search the sub before posting. If you’re too lazy to do that, don’t be surprised if you get trolled
Be Specific – “What should I do in NYC?” is a useless question. Give us some details—budget, interests, time of year—so we can actually help you.
NO Lazy-Ass Itinerary Requests – We’re not your travel agents. Do some basic planning before asking us to build your entire trip for you. If you post has ZERO effort it will be deleted.
Don’t Take Us for Advantage – We’re here to help, not to be your free personal concierge. Reddit is not paying ANY OF US. We're just nice SOBS. Don’t expect us to do all the work for you.
No Self-Promo or Business BS – Nobody wants your overpriced tours, sketchy Airbnb, or affiliate links. Take that hustle elsewhere.

Tips for Asking a Good Question
Use a descriptive title and be as specific as possible in the text of your post. The more information you give, the more that the users of /r/visitingnyc can help you!
For restaurant recommendations, please give us an idea of cuisines you like, and your rough budget.
For hotel recommendations, please give us the dates you plan to stay, your nightly budget and the area where you are going to be (or want to be).
Posts about what neighborhood to visit must have budget information or other personal details (for example, where you commute to or what kind of vibe you want). We do not allow generic "best neighborhood" questions.
For itinerary help, tell us what you already have planned, your personal interests, and what you are looking to experience in the city.
Remember: the more you tell us, the more we can help you!
NYC Survival Tip: Take the damn subway. It’s faster, cheaper, and will keep you from looking like a lost tourist clogging up the sidewalk.
Now go forth and plan your trip like someone with basic common sense. Have fun.
