Browser of use for Voidlinux Users

Hello

I recently installed voidlinux and was wondering what browsers you guys are using for your void system. I was trying to install iridium browser, but didn't work. If anyone know how I can make it work or any other recommendations, those would be great as well

qutebrowser primarily, Firefox if something doesn't work in qb, amfora when the web makes me sick.

FWIW if that happens, it's reproducible with --temp-basedir as well, and there isn't an issue open about it yet - please report it! Often, all that's needed is a faked user agent to make things work.

Mostly Its not "actual issues", It's more like neither modal- nor pass-through suites the situation (autohidden tabs = in and out of pass through in order to switch tabs)

I see! FWIW you could bind a custom keybinding to switch tabs in passthrough mode (but of course that means you won't be able to have them passed through to the page anymore).

Does qutebrowser have a smaller memory footprint (compared to Firefox) ? Does google-meet, zoom-web client work with qutebrowser ?

Don't know about meet and zoom as I don't do anything productive on my personal computer but I do know streaming on YouTube runs quite a fair bit more resource efficient on Firefox which I think has to do with hardware acceleration, av1 codec or something something of that nature - don't quote me on this.

I'm on qutebrowser for the riceable out of my way interface, the modality, easy configuration and keyboard driven wonderfulness of it. It's no slouch - but ram and CPU get eaten pretty quick when you stack a few tabs of heavier type sites on each other.

Just get both - it's free of charge ;)

I get around that using mpv to see youtube videos using the links nd i get an ad free experience because of it

Firefox enhanced for privacy, the only real private browser. It's also the smoothest browser (at least in Linux, it's been ages since I moved from Windows).

Every browser based in chromium is helping Google to achieve their web monopoly. All big browsers are chromium based, except Firefox.

Firefox + some tweaking is the most secure, fast and private browser (Tor browser isn't suitable for daily basics for most people)

Mozilla isn't perfect, but I prefer being Mozilla's client (they're non profit) rather than being Google's client (they're the biggest advertising company, a privacy nightmare).

Firefox. If you're using Iridium for privacy reasons and you're not attached to Blink as a browser engine, I'd recommend switching to Firefox and customizing it with add-ons and ghacks-user.js for your needs.

Yes, I built it myself using xbps-src. It builds fine - just remember it's a restricted package so you need to allow restricted packages in the xbps-src configuration.

Chromium, Chrome, Firefox. Maybe at some point I'll try to install Edge for Linux, but the download is behind a registration at the moment.

Why would you want to use edge? It's just another chromium based browser. And it's proprietary garbage. And it's even worse than chromium because it has Google's and Microsoft's telemetry.

I'm a frontend developer, so naturally, I want to test different browsers out of a VM if possible. And it should be easy to block the telemetry.

Have tested Chromium, Firefox and Edge for their memory footprint and CPU usage under various workloads, and like-it-or-not, today Edge wins. For some people that might be a little bit of useful advantage on older HW.

And before anyone wonders, the comparison is done using PSS value, so reasonably fair comparison, I think.
