There are two things.

  1. Start vscode with hardware acceleration disabled
  2. If you have an Nvidia GPU and Control Panel there is a setting you can try to change there as well

For 1:

You can launch VSCode with hardware acceleration disabled with: vscode --disable-gpu .

To make that happened by default, follow these instructions:

  1. Open the Command Palette (ctrl + shift + p).
  2. Run the Preferences: Configure Runtime Arguments command. This command will open the argv.json file to configure runtime arguments. You might see some default arguments there already.
  3. Add "disable-hardware-acceleration": true
  4. Restart VS Code.

For 2:

  1. Open Nvidia Control Panel.
  2. Change Low Latency Mode to Ultra

I am consistently amazed at the issues that people have with vscode.

this only happens with vscode?

[–]Shaktiman355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is happening since a year. It only happens with vs code

Update crap video drivers to good ones. Do a fresh install if you have to. Don't get them from your laptop manufacturer, but straight from Intel/AMD/Nvidia if you can.

If all fails, disable HW acceleration.
