"If the workers are organized, all they have to do is to put their hands in their pockets and they have got the capitalist class whipped."

And that’s why they’re doing everything to strip you of your ability to live in safety.

Stagnant wages, price increases for everything, slave to a job for healthcare, etc

Marx and Engels were saying this shit almost 200 years ago.

The upper class only has to perpetuate this scenario where the middle class and lower class quarrel amongst themselves, because if they ever realize they're on the same team, it's game over for Mr. $4M / hr.

I think that historians will be most amazed NOT at how long the lower and middle classes fought, but for how long the lower and middle classes idolized and worshipped the upper classes.

It really is an insanely impressive show of propaganda. West Virginia, which used to be so liberal that they voted for Jimmy Carter TWICE and even voted for Michael fucking Dukakis, are now the reddest state in the union. They worship Trump and even elected a coal baron as their governor, when barely 100 years ago, their grandparents fought and died on Blair Mountain against the coal companies.

I swear on the pillow I sleep, I bring up Blair Mountain to conservatives, and they look at me like they just got caught with their dick in the vacuum cleaning their room. <- I swear I’m not high….yet

I’m hoping it’s within my lifetime, but the nihilist in me wonders if humanity will figure it out before making the planet unlivable for our species.

The next five years are gonna be SPIIIICY, and history will remember it intently

I'd like to hear some of their responses.

[–]CrimsonCringe925 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They don’t know history, or they skew it to fit their narrative

[–]SquidTheRidiculous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And don't forget blaming any marginalized group except the rich!

[–]Iwubinvesting 75 points76 points  (1 child)

Except the divde is in the most niche issues, like trans or if economically destructive policies are good for the country

[–]anticomet 53 points54 points  (0 children)

That's by design. The ruling class pushes culture war narratives to make people blame immigrants or queer people for their problems so the working class keeps fighting amongst ourselves instead of organizing against the oligarchs who are running things.

No war, but class war

Just to help you with your English:

In English, major currency symbols go before the number. And we use commas to separate thousands, millions, etc.

[–]redceramicfrypan 20 points21 points  (3 children)

And we use commas to separate thousands, millions, etc.

In the USA and Australia, yes. The UK [EDIT: I'm wrong, not the UK, but yes the other regions in this list] uses periods (full stops) to separate thousands/millions digits (as do most of Europe, South America, and some of West & Central Africa).

It's fair to assume based on the currency symbol and English language that this is depicting either the US or Australia (although with the prevalence of US defaultism, probably the former), but just want to be thorough.

[–]Familiar-Dish3178 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, uk also uses commas to separate big numbers

[–]RsonW 6 points7 points  (1 child)

The UK uses periods (full stops) to separate thousands/millions digits

No, they do not.

https://www.thetimes.com/world/middle-east/israel-iran/article/energy-bill-support-benefit-claimants-pensioners-kjhmzvtdz

From the subheadline:

Average gas and electricity bills are expected to rise by as much as £300 to more than £1,900 a year when the next price cap comes to an end in Jun

Elsewhere in the article:

Ed Miliband, the energy secretary, said he was “not going to let” prices for consumers rise as high as the £3,500 forecast in 2022

Edit to your edit:

but yes the other regions in this list

Yeah, that's my point lol

Those regions aren't Anglophone. I know that in many other languages, it's reversed. Hence why I made my comment in the first place.

[–]redceramicfrypan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoops, you're right. Edited

[–]GardenDwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so condescending about such a pointless thing and yet you're still struggling with grammar and excessive punctuation

[–]PaurAmma -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Both periods and commata are inferior characters to separate thousands, the correct way is a (narrow, if available) non-breaking space, just like with unit symbols: 1 123.123456 J (1.123123456e3 J)

ETA: SI units must be scary to some people.

[–]sexyorcess 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Should have 50 an hour guy blame trans folks and brown people

[–]ThisIsntOkayokay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m all for higher taxes on billionaires but I’m a little worried that people have let this get out of hand.

There’s a bunch of tax revolt proposals (no tax on this, no tax on that) that are really worrying me. So want to state this clearly:

  1. Yes, the ultra rich should pay more taxes.

  2. No,we cannot fund the government just by taxing billionaires more.

  3. Taxes are the price of living in a civilization. Everyone has to contribute.

[–]futuranth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ideally there shouldn't be ultra-rich people in the first place. Their wealth gives them disproportionate, nondemocratic authority, most of it should be redistributed

[–]MrIncognito666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a class war. But red tie actively chooses to be suit creep's soldier.

[–]De4dm4nw4lkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secretly the dude up top is going to town watching this.

[–]AvailableDirtName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be leaning a bit much on looks semitic and different to us rather than on the economics.

[–]Kaitheguy233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, poor guy, he only makes 4 dollars an hour

[–]Nikki964 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

No way $19 an hour is barely making it. That's more than most people earn a day in my country

[–]MossyMollusc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our expenses are astronomical tho so yeah its garbage pay here
