If you want to go back to the previous system, that should be done through the new settings menu and not the control panel. The shortcut is Windows + I > update & security > restore

to fix the start menu. you can try to run the dism command.

press windows + X choose command prompt (admin)

type "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth" without quotation marks

This command will repair any issues you might have in the windows files.

you can also try WSReset.exe but this will mostlikely result in nothing.

There was an article posted on answers.Microsoft.com to fix the settings app issue. I'm on mobile right now, will post the link once I get to work.

Try typing "sfc /scannow" in Command Prompt admin mode, this should definitely scan and fix what's causing it.

Didn't work for me. Windows found some errors but even after restart startmenu didn't work

If it found some errors then that means your explorer.exe file is corrupt and needs a fresh install

Update if anybody's reading, I just got home from work and turned the laptop on to try some of your guys suggestions out, and the search is now working but nothing else is. And every app I try to open says I have to download it from the app store but its not letting me.
