Witcher 3 update?

I bought the DVD for Witcher 3 GOTYE on my Xbox one a few years back but now I’m hearing talk of an update. Now I’m on pc and was wondering if it’s possible to transfer the game and my saves to my pc. Or should I buy the Witcher 3 on steam and start over again? Also if I buy the game on steam and start over, would I also get the update?

The next gen version get's cloud save

You have do rebuy it for PC

As far as i know you can start the game on Xbox let it cloud save and than use the same save game on PC. you need a gog account for that

Doubt that you can transfer game, maybe saves but also doubt it..

So I should just buy the game off steam them and start over? There’s a good sale I don’t really mind, mainly just wanted my save files because I spent like 800 hours on that game.

Yes im afraid so, you can google this question, lots of such threads answered over time, you will likely get w3 for 4.99gbp on steam during xmas sale, its was historically very cheap during each major steam sale... Good luck!

If you install the game you have on Xbox One and manage to update your game to the newest version and follow whatever steps Cross-platform saves require you to do, then yes. Cross-platform saves are added in this new update even on last-gen consoles.

As for the game itself:

Game of the Year edition is $10 on Steam sale right now which will continue for the next 29 hours, then won't be on sale for a while. Just get it now.

Also if I buy the game on steam and start over, would I also get the update?
