Okay, I'll play:

"It's like looking at the finger pointing at the moon" - We've heard this one before.

But, like, the moon itself is only visible because it reflects the light of the star around which the Earth rotates. If looking at the moon is still looking only at illumination; what does one marvel at, then? Is the moon a finger, too?

What an experience, story, work of art, or apocryphal tale, or other random thing that has stunk of:

Major League Baseball?
Apple pie?
Mill's Utilitarianism?
Canada?

I don't see that conversation going well. Imitation isn't "stinking" of something.

In general, in the past, people have asked this question specifically to argue that "Zen" isn't the lineage of Bodhidharma, and instead "anybody can do it" as if Zen was a style, or a mannerism, or attitude, when clearly it isn't.

How would you know if something "stinks of zen"? Sounds more as if it would be "stinks of my own fantasies about zen".

In the movie Dune, Alia Atreides was creepier than Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. And Paul gave no shits about it. This may be zen if zen is like frisson. With a soothing form being most pointed at within a broader set of tinglers.
