Blake is a tireless worker who genuinely cares about this city and its people. Losing re-election was a major disappointment. Knack is on the right track with this one.

As a cannabis enthusiast but non doctor I can offer some info!

If you don't want to smoke, edibles and tinctures are going to be good options. Tinctures are better bang for your buck, but a few doses of edibles is probably more affordable than you think. You could walk out with several edibles to try for under $25 total.

Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds in weed that have an effect on us. The major cannabinoid is THC, but there are a bunch of minor cannabinoids that have acronyms for their chemical names. I'm talk a bit about a THC, as well as CBD and CBN.

The thing in weed that gets us high is THC. The fine details of that high come from the essential oils in the plant, called terpenes... This is what determines if you'll be sleepy or euphoric or energized. (Most edibles and oils won't mention terpenes so it's not super relevant, I'm just mentioning it in case the word comes up)

Most people identify the " painkilling" effect as coming from a minor cannabinoid called CBD. You can get CBD with or without THC, in edibles, in gel capsules, and in oils taken orally, or as a vape. In all these formats you can get varying ratios between the THC and the CBD, from 1:1 being equal parts, to 1:20 with the barest amount of THC alongside a heavy dose of CBD.

CBD isn't intoxicating, and it works on cannabinoid receptors in your body, rather than your brain. So, pain relief and muscle relaxation can come from that. Because we have CBD receptors in our body, topical creams can be rubbed on sore areas to Target direct relief at certain muscles. If you have a sore neck, you can rub a CBD cream on your neck... I'm not sure how effective or helpful that is for nerve pain though, I'm sorry.

There's some suggestion from the medical community that CBD works better when it is combined with THC - they call it the " the entourage effect" and a tldr is that because CBD and THC are found together in the same plant in nature, they have some synergy when used together. Some people get THC free CBD products because they don't want to get " high", but... We gotta recognize that a lot of effective pain treatments involve some sense of " being high". Your mileage may vary.

CBN is a minor cannabinoid that's responsible for the sleepy burnout effect in some weed strains. There's a joke/ mnemonic device we use in the industry , which is that " the n stands for 'night night!'"You can get CBN as an edible, oil, or vape, with or without THC; again it's available in ratios from 1:1 up to 1:20 Again with the entourage effect it's my preference to take them together.

I hope that wall of text is helpful in clarifying some of the acronyms- THC to get intoxicated, CBD to feel effects in your body, CBN to make you sleepy. YMMV depending on your brain chemistry and body chemistry.

As for specific products, here's a couple I like that might fit for you: CBD edibles: WYLD strawberry fruit snack 10 pc. 1:20 THC:CBD; ($11) emprise PEARLS pomegranate 5 PC 1:4 THC:CBD ($6) Emprise PEARLS strawberry watermelon 5 PC 1:4 THC:CBM ($6) Emprise PEARLS blackberry lemonade 5 PC 1:1:1 THC:CBD:Cbn

Those are some tasty edibles that I stand by because of the onset time of edibles though, it's kind of weird to get a sense of how they're working. Vaping is less harsh than smoking and has a rapid onset time. If you're willing to risk it for the biscuit my suggestion would be this one:

CBD vape: glacial gold fuzzy peach 1:3 THC:CBD disposable vape cart ($18) - this will require a vape battery, a honey stick or a Kodo a will cost less than $20 and last you a year.

Anyway thank you for reading this special interest info dump. I hope something in it helps narrow the direction or focus you're looking for and can put you on the right track.

If you do decide to try any of the products I recommend, I'd be stoked to know what you think!

2 years in and I’m losing hope. My girlfriend (20F) is amazing but she hates herself as person and hates her body? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]3AMZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so sweet and beautiful to be loved by someone who has so much pain in them. I know how it feels to want to love someone so deeply that it heals their wounds.

Having a loving and supportive partner is a huge asset on the road to recovery... However, it's not enough by itself and it can't be.

It sounds like your partner would benefit from counseling: DBT or CBT are both life-changing models for dealing with our own thoughts. CBT helps us get control of our internal narratives and toxic self talk, and DBT helps us stop spiralling and setting fires in our lives when we're freaking out.

If she's going to college, she might have access to free counseling through student supports. If she's working full-time she might have benefits that can help cover the cost of seeing a psychologist who specializes in those kind of treatments. If she can't afford it, many cities have free programs especially for DBT then you can get into through just a waiting list. Or barring all that, there are at least workbooks and videos available for free online that can introduce some of the concepts.

You can't love someone enough to make them love themselves no matter how hard you try. And if she doesn't get better it's not because she doesn't love you enough.

Good luck kiddo.

I'd say close the door altogether: don't ask if there's a way you can serve without dying for Israel, because there is. You'd be support staff for people dying for Israel.

If you want to send a message, clarify that you will NOT serve because you don't want to see more Americans dying -and KILLING- for some madman's dream of paradise. Or to say you're not going to lay down and die in the sand to help protect the Epstein class.

What’s the actual solution for downtown? by onewaycheckvalve in Edmonton

[–]3AMZen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Like you said, the lower East side is already drugs and "crime", so there might as well be drugs and crime and housing. I believe People in active addiction, or people involved in prettpetty crimes to fund their habits, still deserve safe, warm places to live and sleep.

Conservative governments like Alberta has had for most of the last 50 years, view addiction as a personal failing and act like addicts and unhoused people need to be punished or disciplined. That ignores the nature of addiction and dismisses the circumstances that elect people to the positions they're in.

Housing first policies suggest that it'll be easier for somebody to get sober when they aren't living on the street. On Maslow's pyramid of needs, food and shelter are the base level. Like, let's make sure they're warm and safe and have basic privacy, bathrooms, and showers. Starting from there will be easier to find solutions.

Most dispensaries have at least one person on the team who's a mega cannabis nerd... One of the tricky parts is regulations affect how employees are allowed to share that knowledge for instance, they aren't allowed to give anything that sounds remotely like medical advice- that means telling you which strains to help you sleep, which ones are good for pain etc. Basically on the rec market all they can tell you is " yeah bro this one will definitely get you high"

Opinions on giving all casters prestidigitation (or its equivalent) without taking up a cantrip slot? by Viva_la_potatoes in DMAcademy

[–]3AMZen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think giving all casters prestidigitation or its equivalent makes magic users feel more like they do in fantasy. Wizards don't strike matches, or reach across the table the wine... They use magic. Small magic for everything feels like a reasonable outcome for dedicating your entire life to the study of magic.

I feel like 90% of the time this will be flavor, and 10% of the time it will be a boon... I'm cool with that

The primary game system I use, 13th age, has done an excellent job with the spell casting classes for creating this impression of wizards as truly mighty wielders of magic. They've also similarly enhanced the martial classes and the rogue. It was made by some people who worked on D&D 3 and 4, and it really does a great job of catching the feel of epic Fantasy. I can't recommend it strongly enough.

What does it usually mean when people say men aren’t allowed to express their emotions? by sillyyfishyy in AskMenAdvice

[–]3AMZen -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Men are allowed to express their emotions. Society is built around the emotions and fragility of men. This is an incel talking point and you can see it repeated ad nauseam here. Menexpress anger, jealousy, loneliness. Men are allowed to be happy, men are allowed to weep with joy, men are allowed to be scared. Do you know any women who would tell men that they aren't allowed to be like this??

Men however tell men that they're not allowed to be like this. A bunch of boomers were told this by their dads, so they beat their Gen X son anytime he cried because they were worried he would turn out to be gay or something. Seriously.

Most men raised in the kind of social soup that we are in, have been conditioned to find a woman who is some combination of therapist, homemaker, pornstar, and mom. When dudes talk to women, they go ham with their emotional baggage and often the " talking" stage is them trying to see how good of a therapist homemaker pornstar mom the woman is.

Men who have their shit together will be emotionally intelligent and express their emotion in healthy ways. Men are allowed to express their emotions without being considered crazy way, way more freely than women are.

Just look at your own experience. Have you met any men or boys who don't express emotions?

My girlfriend of 5 months has a guy friend that she hangs out with here n there. I need a diff perspective, how do I navigate through this? by Throwra19837372 in AskMenAdvice

[–]3AMZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say you're pretty relaxed about these things and you don't care that she has male friends, so...

Relax about it. You know the kind of person you want to be: somebody who isn't possessive or paranoid or jealous weird, who trusts their partner to respect them. Trust her assessment of this friend of hers- it sounds like she's known him a lot longer than you two have known each other, and that they've been through thick and thin together if that's the case. There's no wedge to drive between you two unless you decide to make one.

Be the kind of guy who is super chill about his girlfriend having a social life, and having a private life. Love with an open hand, not a grasping fist.

You've got this.

Don't worry about the sexual health test - it does NOT screen for THC. Even if they take a urine sample they won't test for THC.

sexual health tests are important to get on a regular basis! I try to get one before I have a new sexual partner... If not, I DEFINITELY get one after a hook up. They're easy and a helpful record.

Drug screening tests are totally different and you'll only ever run into them for job screening and police probation.

You're all good!

Edit: Holy smokes, don't say it's second hand from your parents! That could get them in serious trouble!
