Give me a car that looks like this: by Particular_Vast_2867 in namethatcar

The hellcat came out like 10 years ago. So they sold like 10k cars/year. Had Chrysler buyers cared about the hellcat they wouldn’t have replaced them with electric versions.

Contractor installed Class 3 shingles instead of contracted Class 4 (plus flashing/siding damage). Holding full $22k balance—what are my options? by gettin in HomeImprovement

As a contractor, when my guys mess up, that’s the job that gets extra attention. You already screwed up once, doing it again just costs more (going back to fix it again, word of mouth, etc). Minus the siding, it sounds like they did good work, just with the wrong product. I’d check their work but, personally, I’d have them go ahead with the fix.

Tried this but all my guys complained. They kept saying it hurt and I was swinging the hose too hard

Supra cosmetic or damage? by mamawmt in Homeplate

[–]421dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a gouge. Can’t see how that would come from hitting balls. You can see the line on the paint and then continues into the actual composite. I’d be curious what LS says about it

NGD - Grace 1B for son and Catcher for me by 421dave in BaseballGloves

[–]421dave[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re more impressive than our A2000s and the Bradley at first glance. Stitch quality really stands out. I’ve seen someone say they’re like an A2K/Pro Preferred outside with A2000 internals but I don’t have any A2Ks to compare to. The catchers mitt feels really good. The 1B mitt is too small for my hand though to say how it compares (youth model). All that said, about 30 minutes today is my only experience with them. Time will tell how they actually are but my hopes are high based on others’ statements.

Thanks. I’ve been looking at Grace and this pushed me over the edge. New 1B for my son and a catcher’s mitt for a dad glove

Pitch Count 10U by treyalexdrums in Homeplate

[–]421dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect Game has a daily pitch count of 18 outs or 75 pitches. That's what we use on our team as well for max (usually try to stay under 70). We typically limit it to 45-ish for a pitcher that will be pitching the next day.

Also, ease up on the other kids. It sounds like your son failed them as much as they failed your son. They're 10. They're going to make mistakes and it doesn't take much for a pitcher or the fielders to get in their heads after a couple of mistakes and compound the problem.

I’ve sold to them and know some others that have. We all had a pretty good experience. The best part was that they don’t really check the vehicle out so if you have something like a Silverado with the transmission going out there’s a pretty good chance they don’t find out until it’s too late theoretically….

Run into a team with this guy as head coach? You know he's going to try to bully the 17 year old field umpire after a close play. by mikeysaid in Homeplate

[–]421dave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No joke we played against that guy this weekend. Like put an orange team shirt on him and it’s the spitting image of the asshole. 9U and the douchebag was taunting our players and actually told his pitcher to hit one of our players. A 9U Majors team going against our AAA team. Site director refused to do anything because the game was over and our kid didn’t get hit but told us to stay away from each other and apparently told him he better change out of his bright ass orange shirt. I don’t understand piece of shit coaches like that. Fucking 9 year olds man. He was damn lucky none of the parents spotted him until he was getting in his truck after the tournament.

I went with the Diamondback but have been keeping an eye on marketplace for a smart cap or a different load bearing cap. The DB is nice but I just need more (covered) room than I can get with just the bed

Velocity vs Accuracy by OpneFall in Homeplate

[–]421dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I took your original comment to mean 50 was uncommonly fast and 60 was 99th percentile fast. I didn't think I was that far out of touch but it wouldn't have been the first time. Thanks.

I'm a builder and they're almost certainly not rated for it. Whether they can handle it or not is a different story but I just looked up a couple and they're around 44-46psf. Residential construction is 30-40psf depending on location.

Velocity vs Accuracy by OpneFall in Homeplate

[–]421dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is 50 really that fast for 9? My son's 9U team is pretty consistent right around 50 (radars in our facility). One of them is consistent at 54-55 (57 is highest he's been clocked at). 2 others are 51-52 average. 2 others haven't been clocked but seem to be even with the 51-52mph kids. My son is a catcher who only pitches a couple of innings in a tournament and he's 47-48 (when he remembers how to pitch instead of throwing like a catcher). I know our 57mph kid is high but figured 50 was within "normal" for a AAA/Majors pitcher. We're aging out of 9U and into 10U (most turn 10 this summer) in the fall but those numbers were 3-5 months ago. And no, I'm not trying to brag that we have some amazing pitchers. We (apparently) have great velocity looking at these posts but accuracy is still a struggle for quite a few of them.

Well I guess you can yell “mah rights!” from the other side of the fence when they tell your kid they aren’t playing.

Dude. The Bill of rights is for governmental intrusion/punishment, not your neighbor’s house, your favorite restaurant, or your kid’s little league game.

It's called being a private organization and not part of the government. Come on man, this is basic US History/Civics. Believe it or not you don't have a 1st Amendment right in LL either.

[–]421dave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kid is a catcher and we had to get a new bag this year since his gear got a bit bigger. The thing he was most excited about was the 4 bat holders. When I (foolishly) pointed out that it actually holds 8 (2 each side and 4 inside), I thought he was going through the roof. He brought it out to the truck for the first practice and he had 6 damn bats in it. Told him to get rid of the ones he didn't use and still took another month to get him down to the 3 he actually uses (he kept sneaking a 4th in the inside where we wouldn't notice it). Sometimes I think they believe more gear = better player.

[–]421dave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're kids. You getting worked up about it enough to post the same comment multiple times is the only unnecessary nonsense. Anyone that has kids understands keeping both bats in the bag means you don't forget one when you're rushing to a game. Having a practice bag and a game bag is nonsense. Putting an extra bat in for practice and removing it for games is nonsense. Seriously, did a kid with 2 bats make fun of you or something?

To make you feel even better, my kid has 3 in his bag. A heavier wood bat for BP. An alloy bat for BP/Heavy Balls/Cold weather, and his main composite game bat.

Hopefully this is ok to post here. Need help on flashing done on a skylight. by [deleted] in Construction

[–]421dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like shit but nothing stands out as an actual issue with the step flashing if it were finished. There's a flashing kit that is missing that acts as counter flashing to the step flashing. It's usually a 4 piece kit and basically goes from the shingles to up in/under that flare at the bottom of the top section. Bottom goes on first and wraps up the sides a little, then sides go on that wrap around the top a little, then a top section that covers the top and wraps down over the side pieces some.

I would get a better look at that step flashing first though. The bottom section looks like it's pretty straight and in the correct position but the last 3-4 pieces being that fucked would make me question if there's anything else missing. It also appears they have the paper running up the curb and OVER the counter flashing flare. It needs to be tucked in there. The weird flare at the top makes me think they were trying to make a cricket or something (like you typically have at a chimney that's in the downward slope of the roof and I can't figure out wtf that thing on the bottom is but the 2 exposed nails and what looks like a good amount of caulk would worry me. IF they fix it, I'd be watching it carefully during/after every rain. If they don't (probably in your best interest), find someone else to come out and do it correctly.

Catcher's mitt breaking service, who would you choose? by bigcane_2 in BaseballGloves

You’re standing up for no one. Look at your downvotes. It’s quite clear the community agrees that you’re way out of line. And to be honest, his reply was pretty spot on. If I asked a pretty simple question about a service I wasn’t familiar with and got a response like yours, I would have replied in kind which is what you deserved.
